Joaquin Niemann remains at the top of the LIV Golf standings following his three wins earlier in the season, but has Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm hot on his heels.

It has been another outstanding start to the year for Joaquin Niemann, with the Chilean set to be in the mix to win the individual title on LIV Golf later on in the season.

It was Jon Rahm who managed to hunt him down last year. But this time around, the duo are split by Bryson DeChambeau following the American’s win at LIV Golf Korea last month.

It was important for DeChambeau to impress on LIV this year. The 31-year-old went into this season without a victory in the league in 2024. But of course, it has been a different story for the Crushers captain in the majors over the last 18 months.

Joaquin Niemann suggests what he can learn from Bryson DeChambeau

DeChambeau has finished inside the top six in five of the last six majors, with victory obviously coming at last year’s US Open at Pinehurst.

DeChambeau appears to have found a way to peak at the right times. And that will surely inspire someone like Niemann who will be looking to improve his own major record in the years to come.

And ahead of LIV Golf Virginia, Niemann was asked what he can learn from someone like DeChambeau.

“Yeah, Bryson obviously is an amazing player. He’s proved that since his amateur career. He’s always been pretty talented. He’s a guy that works really hard, as well. He’ll be the last one on the range,” he said.

“I feel like what I can learn from Bryson is his intensity of getting better. You can see how he’s always trying to figure out new stuff, how he can put that into his game.

“I feel like Bryson is somebody that changes and tries new things every time, which I feel like is nothing wrong with that. You can learn a lot of stuff from new experiences.

“Obviously he’s way different than me, way different than anybody. The way he approaches the game is completely different, which I feel like is really unique, and in his way, it works for him.

“It’s nice to be around him. It’s nice to be around good competitive guys. I’m playing with him this week, so it’s going to be a good challenge for me, because I know how bad he wants to catch me on the rankings, and obviously I am trying to run away, in a way.

“For me, it’s exciting to have that pressure from him, knowing how good of a player he is, and it just gets me excited to keep working hard and play better.”

How Joaquin Niemann has performed in the US Open during his career

Niemann has a decent record in the US Open throughout his career. He did miss the cut as an amateur back in 2017. And he would not return to the event until 2020.

In the following four years, Niemann would never finish higher than 23rd or worse than 47th. His 23rd place finish came at Winged Foot, with that event being won by DeChambeau.

The 26-year-old failed to qualify for last year’s US Open. However, with the pathway being opened for the top players on LIV Golf now, Niemann has had little to worry about in recent weeks when it comes to getting to Oakmont.

And he will be hoping that he can now find a bit of the magic which has helped make DeChambeau a regular on the leaderboards in the majors now.
