Jack Nicklaus is the most successful golfer in history, and indeed the most successful around Augusta National.

The fabled Augusta National was Jack’s playground from 1963 all the way through to 1986, when he won The Masters an incredible six times.

Jack Nicklaus has won 18 Major Championships in total – three ahead of second place on the list, none other than Tiger Woods.

Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson has won six majors, three of which were wins at The Masters.

Nicklaus stands head and shoulders above Phil when it comes to success in majors, whilst Woods is on a slightly more level standing with the 85-year-old.

But what does the Golden Bear make of the way that the two players’ careers have panned out?

Jack Nicklaus has a big question about Phil Mickelson and makes Tiger Woods prediction

Nicklaus is a man in high demand when The Masters rolls around in each year, unsurprisingly so due to his unrivalled success around Augusta.

When Jack speaks, golf fans listen, it’s as simple as that.

Nicklaus was asked whether he is surprised that Mickelson is still competing at the very highest level and Tiger isn’t.

The Golden Bear responded in bullish fashion:

The Match: Tiger vs Phil

Well, you know, I don’t know what level Phil is competing at. I guess he’s still playing. He’s playing the LIV Tour, is he? I don’t know if he’s playing or not. I don’t know, you never see that anymore. But Tiger is hurt. I think Tiger will get well and Tiger will be back and play — Tiger will be 50 next year. I believe he’ll probably play the Senior Tour and I believe he’ll probably dominate the Senior Tour. Tiger is too much of a competitor to not play. I don’t believe he will not play. I believe he will play. I don’t think Tiger will play for money. He doesn’t need money. Tiger will play for competition. He loves competition, and he’s very good at it, obviously.

As far as Phil, I think Phil has been competitive in an odd event here and there but not really in the last few years. You know, Phil has been a good player. There’s no question about that. There’s no question he’s been a good player. But I don’t really know what your question was about the two of them, but I think Tiger will — Tiger has had his issues, and he’s overcome most all of them each time he’s had them. I fully expect him to do that again.

That is quite the prediction from Nicklaus about Tiger. And on the flip-side, it was rather harsh how he seemingly brushed Mickelson’s good form aside, purely because of his affiliation to LIV.

How many PGA Tour wins do Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have?

All three are unsurprisingly inside the top 10 for most PGA Tour wins of all-time.

Woods sits tied top of the list with 82, alongside Sam Snead.

Meanwhile, Jack has 73 titles to his name, whilst Phil has won 45 events.

Whatever way you break it down, those numbers are all incredibly impressive.

Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are three of the greatest to have ever played the game.

Although it must be said, Jack and Tiger stand alone at the top of the tree.
