Ian Poulter has revealed the prank he played on Majesticks teammate Henrik Stenson which left the Swede’s son absolutely furious.
The Majesticks are probably the team on LIV Golf with the most history amongst its players, with co-captains Henrik Stenson, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood playing on tour together for around 25 years.
Poulter unquestionably is known as one of the game’s great characters in the modern era, with Team Europe certainly grateful to the Englishman for a number of massive moments across several Ryder Cups over the years.
So it is hardly surprising that he loves to have a bit of fun off the golf course – even if it comes at the expense of one of his closer friends.
Ian Poulter left Henrik Stenson’s son furious with car prank
In 2021, Poulter spray painted the wheels on Stenson’s Ferrari pink while the latter was away on holiday. He also wrapped the roof of the car with a picture of the pair of them.
Stenson was able to see the funny side upon his return, but it seems that his son, understandably, had a bit of an issue. Speaking on Golf Life about the pranks they play on each other, Poulter suggested that defacing his car sticks out as the highlight.

“There’s always something. We’ve gone a bit easy on each other in the last couple of years, because it was getting quite lively – spray painting his Ferrari wheels pink and him nicking all my laundry. We have a good time; I think if you’re going to be away from home for lengthy periods of time and you can’t have a laugh then something’s wrong, so we’ve always loved it. I think Henrik’s got one of the best sense of humours,” he said.
“Spray painting his Ferrari wheels pink is right up there,” he added when asked about the worst prank. “He came off holiday, I was hiding in the bushes in his garden to get the video, I felt like a naughty little school kid.”
“No, but his lad was,” he replied when asked if Stenson was angry. “His lad was furious, beyond furious, literally furious, because the following day he had a tournament and the only car he could drive in was a beautiful grey Ferrari with pink rims.”
Team spirit played such a key role in Europe’s Ryder Cup success since 2001
There was definitely a spell after the Millennium where it appeared that Europe would be able to close a pretty large gap in quality to the Americans at the Ryder Cup due to the amazing team spirit within the blue and gold locker room.
And the likes of Poulter, Stenson and Westwood have certainly more than played their part in that, with the trio proving to be stalwarts of the side in that time. Poulter and Westwood, of course, were on a Ryder Cup team as late as 2021, while Stenson was a vice-captain at Whistling Straits.
It is a shame that, as things stand, Europe is going to miss out on having the trio as captains, with Stenson being stripped of that right after his move to LIV in 2022.
