Tommy Fleetwood might have picked up a win on the DP Tour already this season but just like all of us, he has weaknesses to his game.
For the mere golfing mortal, being able to play like Tommy Fleetwood would be the dream. The Englishman is one of the best ball-strikers in the game and proved his credentials when winning in Dubai a few weeks back.
That weekend saw him see off Rory McIlroy on the final hole. Of course, this weekend has seen McIlroy follow Fleetwood by winning in Dubai. The Northern Irishman scored a stunning comeback victory to win by one shot.
And speaking on the Rick Shiels Golf YouTube channel, Fleetwood has revealed he’s had to lean on McIlroy for some advice recently.

Tommy Fleetwood shares why he’s had to ask Rory McIlroy for advice
Chatting about the poorer parts of his game, Fleetwood revealed that he believes himself to be ‘useless’ out of the rough.
So much so, he’s even asked Ryder Cup teammate McIlroy for some tips.
“I’m useless out the rough. I had a lesson from Rory out the rough at the Ryder Cup because the rough was really thick there and he’s really good out of it. I was playing a practice round and I asked him to help me. I’m quite a shallow player. And I either hit a big swinger left or a big choppy cut thing which goes nowhere. I’m always wondering, I watch people and they look so good out of it so I asked Rory!,” Fleetwood said.
Fleetwood will be hoping to follow up on is win in Dubai by having a huge season across both tours.
Like McIlroy, the Englishman will be one of the favourites for The Masters in Augusta in April.
Indeed, if he can hone some of those apparent weaknesses he sees in his game, then he’ll be in contention for a number of top tournaments throughout the year.
