Russell Henley won the biggest event of his career as he snatched the Arnold Palmer Invitational from under the nose of Collin Morikawa and their career earnings are closer than some might think.
Henley’s remarkable chip in on 16 put him ahead of Morikawa for the final two holes and he held his nerve to see off the two-time major winner.
For Morikawa, it was yet another agonisingly close call as he continues to look for a first win since winning the 2023 Zozo Championship.
Henley, meanwhile, has now won five times on the PGA Tour and is very much in contention to be part of Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup squad for Bethpage.
Of course, we know PGA Tour golf is about winning. But it’s also about earning money, and quite remarkably, the lesser known Henley is not too far off Morikawa.

Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa’s career earnings
With the Arnold Palmer sharing out a $20m purse, Russell Henley will have been delighted to bring home a nice cheque for $4m.
Morikawa, meanwhile, still pocketed over $2m so his bank balance gets a nice healthy boost anyway.
However, when you look at the career earnings, the numbers racked up by Henley are pretty impressive, given he’s never won a major or a signature event before.
Henley has now won $37,473,215 on the PGA Tour while Morikawa is just ahead of him on $39,762,421.
There are caveats in there, with Henley being seven years older than Morikawa and having played in 296 events to Morikawa’s 125.
Still, for a player not often mentioned, it’s an impressive number for Henley to have built up.

The highest earners on the PGA Tour
$37m and $39m are huge sums of money but both Henley and Morikawa have a long way to go to catch the very top dogs.
Tiger Woods top the list at over $120m, while Rory McIlroy is next on the list having won $95m on the PGA Tour so far. It’s worth noting McIlroy has won another $65m on the DP World Tour.
Indeed, for Henley or Morikawa to get into the top ten on the PGA side of things, they need to breach the $61m mark, with Justin Thomas currently occupying tenth spot.
