Some players are working on their games harder than others at Bethpage Black this week, but is that a good thing or a bad thing?
So, it’s finally here. Like a kid at Christmas, every single golf fan on the planet will be up early this morning full of excitement and anticipation with the Ryder Cup at the famed Bethpage Black now just hours away.
The mind games between the two Ryder Cup teams have already begun, with European captain Luke Donald engaging in psychological warfare.
There is a feeling that Team Europe are far more settled than the US team, and that is proven by the fact that there has only been one change on their side from 2023.
Donald has been taking a few swipes at the US side already. The Team Europe Ryder captain poked fun at the American players being paid to play at Bethpage during his opening ceremony speech.
However, while Donald has been chirping away behind the scenes, his players and Keegan’s Bradley’s men have been working hard on the driving range.
How many balls every player has hit on the driving range this week at Bethpage
Some players are clearly happier with their games than others ahead of the start of the Ryder Cup.

Thousands of balls have been struck on Bethpage Black’s wonderful practice facility this week.
Perhaps it should be no surprise that Bryson DeChambeau has hit the most balls this week, by quite some margin as well.
The American was closely followed by Viktor Hovland in second.
At the other ends of the spectrum Harris English, Ben Griffin and Justin Rose have all hit 100 or fewer balls in practice this week.
Rose, 45, is clearly conserving his energy while the two Americans’ games must be extremely fine-tuned.
Now it’s time for the players on both sides to deliver. It will be really interesting to see the performances of DeChambeau and Hovland this week, after the work they have put in on the range at Bethpage.
Fastest ball-speeds from Ryder Cup players on the range at Bethpage
Power is arguably the most valuable commodity in the modern-day game.
And one player stands head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to that.
DeChambeau has absolutely dominated the fastest ball stats on the range at Bethpage this week.
Here are the top 10 speeds clocked so far:
| Player name | Ball-speed (mph) |
| Bryson DeChambeau | 200 |
| Bryson DeChambeau | 199.1 |
| Bryson DeChambeau | 198 |
| Bryson DeChambeau | 196.5 |
| Bryson DeChambeau | 194.9 |
| Bryson DeChambeau | 194.4 |
| Bryson DeChambeau | 194.2 |
| Bryson DeChambeau | 194.1 |
| Rory McIlroy | 193.4 |
| Bryson DeChambeau | 193.3 |
That is what you call an exhibition of raw and explosive power.
DeChambeau will be a key player for the US Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black this week, and as you can tell by those numbers above, he has already been sending out statements to his opponents during practice.
