How far Rory McIlroy hit the ‘tiny driver’ compared to Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrrell Hatton

Rory McIlroy and Tyrrell Hatton might be knee deep in a battle to come out on top in the Race to Dubai but they’ve both also found time for some fun out in the sun as well.

McIlroy and Hatton are one shot apart going into the final day in Dubai and the Race to Dubai is still open for now, albeit McIlroy remains the favourite.

However, while the action on the golf course is hotting up and there are a number of players battling to win the actual event, there’s also a bit of downtime at this event too.

Indeed, one of the challenges the DP World Tour have had their top players doing this week is hitting one of the world’s smallest drivers.

Of course, McIlroy and Hatton have taken part as well and as expected, they’re not too shabby.

How far Rory McIlroy hit the tiny driver

With so much content on YouTube and similar nowadays, we are used to seeing players and influencers take on such challenges.

Nevertheless, it is always eye-opening to see the best in the world faced with one of the toughest clubs around to hit.

McIlroy and Hatton were both presented with a driver with a tiny head on and challenged to hit it as far as they could. Naturally, Rory McIlroy showed his class.

The world number two made a clean connection with the golf ball and hit the ball a whopping 279.2 yards, taking the lead in the challenge ahead of Shane Lowry.

Tyrrell Hatton and Tommy Fleetwood take on the tiny driver challenge

As can be expected, the DP World Tour have been milking the footage on this challenge but it has been engrossing to see just how far the best can hit it.

Tommy Fleetwood, very much a man in form, topped his first attempt around 20 yards before finally hitting one flush and hit his attempt 249.3 yards.

As for Tyrrell Hatton, the man challenging McIlroy on the actual course, hit a beauty himself as he sent the ball 261.1 yards, despite suggesting he could miss the ball altogether.

In a nutshell, this challenge – although a touch silly – just shows how good the professionals are.

With them hitting a tiny driver head north of 250 yards and quite comfortably, it goes to show just how accurate and consistent they are in their swings.
