Collin Morikawa is one of the many PGA Tour stars past and present who appear in the latest Happy Gilmore film, with the world number six sent through a table alongside Xander Schauffele.

Happy Gilmore 2 certainly pays homage to the first film, with so many moments fans will easily recognise.

The original film saw just Lee Trevino and Mark Lye involved. But the sequel clearly spared no expense when it came to getting many of golf’s biggest names involved.

John Daly is sensational, while Scottie Scheffler proved that there is absolutely nothing that he cannot do with his performance. Rory McIlroy meanwhile may have been born in Holywood, but it is hard to imagine that a long film career beckons once his playing days are done.

How far Collin Morikawa hit a drive with the Happy Gilmore swing

Of course, with Happy Gilmore 2 now out, it would be no surprise to see plenty of weekend golfers trying their luck at the famous swing which allows Adam Sandler’s character to hit the driver so far he would make Bryson DeChambeau look average.

And it seems that it is not just the amateurs who cannot help themselves from trying to perform Gilmore’s swing, with TGL posting a video showing Collin Morikawa attempting the move in the SoFi Center.

Morikawa’s attempt carried 267 yards and rolled out to 289 yards.

Collin Morikawa’s driving distances on the PGA Tour this season

Morikawa is not one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour. While he is 11th for strokes gained off the tee, he is down in 146th for driving distance in 2025.

He averages 295.9 yards off the tee this season. So he did not lose too much distance while attempting the Happy Gilmore swing.

It has been a hugely frustrating year for Morikawa. Second place finishes at The Sentry and the Arnold Palmer Invitational hinted that a first win since 2023 was just around the corner.

However, that win is yet to materialise. And a forgettable year in the majors culminated with the 28-year-old missing the cut at The Open Championship.

It will be interesting to see how Morikawa responds in the off-season. Perhaps he may look to add some more distance.
