Billy Horschel played on the PGA Tour for the first time in six months this week.

Horschel‘s last PGA Tour appearance came at the RBC Heritage way back in April, although he did return to action on the DP World Tour at the BMW PGA Championship in September.

The American returned to action this week at the Baycurrent Classic in Japan.

Over the past few months, Horschel admitted he has found it difficult missing big PGA Tour events and obviously major championships.

The 38-year-old underwent hip surgery in May of this year, but more as a preventative measure.

Horschel missed the cut at the BMW PGA Championship on his return to competitive action, but only by one shot, after shooting rounds of 73 and 70 at Wentworth.

But how did he get on out in Japan this week?

The Baycurrent Classic has a limited field this week, with only 78 players competing.

Horschel is currently sitting in a tie for 50th spot.

The American posted a bitterly disappointing round of six-over par 77 on day one but he came roaring back on Friday.

Horschel posted a stunning bogey-free round of five-under par 66 on day two at the Yokohama Country Club.

He now sits at one-over par for the tournament – 13 shots back of the leader Max Greyserman, with 36 holes left to play.

Of course, there is no cut this week, so Horschel has a real chance to build up a head of steam heading into the final two months of the year.

He won’t win this week unless he goes crazy over the weekend. However, his 66 on day two will give him huge confidence moving forward.

Billy Horschel’s stats after two rounds of the PGA Tour’s Baycurrent Classic

Horschel’s all-round game is obviously rusty right now.

However, his iron play and short game seemed to be actually pretty sharp, given the fact that he hasn’t played a PGA Tour tournament in six months.

Here are his stats from his first two rounds at the Baycurrent Classic combined:

StatsHorschel’s rank thru two rounds
Strokes gained off the tee72
Strokes gained approach24
Strokes gained around the green18
Strokes gained putting55
Strokes gained totalT-53

The results aren’t crucial for Horschel right now. It’s all about getting the reps in for him ahead of the 2026 season.

And a couple of rounds in the 60s over the weekend would set him up really nicely for the next few tournaments that he plays in.
