One of LIV Golf’s in-form players carded a remarkable quintuple bogey on Royal Troon’s famous Postage Stamp on day two of The Open.
The famous Scottish venue was once again at its ferocious best, with several high-profile names, including Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, missing the cut.
Bryson DeChambeau, who also struggled, was criticised by Nick Faldo for not adapting his game after the first day’s play.
However, it was individual championship leader Joaquin Niemann who found himself carding one of the highest scores of the day on Troon’s iconic par-three eighth.

Starting the day at level par, Niemann was in contention. And, after birdies on one and three, the Chilean would’ve fancied his chances of chasing down leader Shane Lowry.
However, sitting at one under on the eighth tee, the 25-year-old wouldn’t have anticipated what was about to unfold.
The Chilean’s tee shot ended up in the greenside bunker, and his second shot ended up in the bunker on the opposite side of the green. Before eventually hitting the putting surface, Niemann played his third shot into the front bunker.
Things then went from bad to worse after he four-putted to increase his Open Championship score by five shots.

Niemann certainly deserves credit for how he responded to his setback on the front nine.
The LIV Golf man birdied four of his next seven holes to get himself back to even par and in with a chance heading into the weekend.
He proved on Friday that he’s capable of scoring in brutal links conditions, and if the quintuple bogey hadn’t occurred, he would be firmly among the leaders.
Elsewhere, Justin Rose produced the round of the day, dropping just one shot on his way to a three under 68.
Billy Horschel is also in contention after shooting 68, and world number one Scottie Scheffler sits alongside his compatriot on two under.
