A high-profile LIV Golf star finds himself firmly in contention at this week’s DP World Tour event at the Golfclub München Eichenried in Munich, Germany.

Breakaway tour players appearing outside of LIV have become rare in recent years, and the PGA Tour has yet to reach an agreement with the PIF.

As for the DP World Tour, LIV players are allowed to play as long as any outstanding fines have been paid, something Lee Westwood highlighted in a recent podcast with YouTube golf star Peter Finch.

However, at this week’s BMW International Open in Germany, one of LIV Golf’s most prominent names is firmly in contention.

Patrick Reed is arguably one of LIV’s most biggest names behind Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.

The American currently sits 10th in the individual standings and is well-placed heading into another busy stretch of the season.

However, due to his plummeting world ranking due to the lack of OWGR points on LIV, the 33-year-old is looking to boost his current position at this week’s event ahead of The Open Championship.

Reed currently has no outstanding fines due to the European Tour, which means he’s eligible to compete.

And the Texan has undoubtedly done his chances of surging up the world rankings the world of good.

Reed currently sits T5 on 12 under after carding a round of four under on Saturday. The American is just two shots back from leader Jordan Smith.

More LIV Golf players should follow in Reed’s footsteps

There’s no doubt more LIV Golfers should follow in Reed’s footsteps.

By clearing his fines and competing on the DP World Tour, he stands a genuine chance of boosting his world ranking and opening up chances for more major championship appearances.

After missing his US Open qualifier, Reed had to make do with a watching berth during DeChambeau’s thrilling win at Pinehurst.

Hopefully, with another positive round on Sunday, the Texan will play his way into the year’s final major, which gets underway at Royal Troon next week.
