All of the Ryder Cup talk right now is revolving around whether or not Keegan Bradley should act as a playing captain at Bethpage Black.
Bradley has given himself a big dilemma by playing so consistently well ahead of the Ryder Cup.
Now Harris English has weighed into the debate by delivering his honest verdict on the situation.
Bradley has been advised to simply play at the Ryder Cup by Sir Nick Faldo, rather than perform his role as captain as well.
However, all the noise coming out of the American camp right now is that the 39-year-old from Vermont will be the first playing captain for Team USA since Arnold Palmer did it in 1963.

The fact that Bradley has appointed five Ryder Cup vice-captains suggests that he’s certainly thinking hard about playing at the very least.
Harris English says whether Keegan Bradley should play at the Ryder Cup
Bradley’s exceptional form this season has ensured that he will have an incredibly difficult decision to make in two months’ time.
The 2011 PGA champion’s win at the Travelers Championship a few weeks ago really threw the cat amongst the pigeons.
The bottom line is that Bradley has been one of the best performing American golfers over the past few months.
So it would be silly for him to not play really.
English spoke to reporters after his second round at The Open Championship on Friday, and he responded when asked to give his opinion on Bradley’s current form.
He said, “Yeah, he’s playing great, one of the top players in the world. Might be playing some of the best golf of his career. It’s awesome to see. I know he’s got a lot of things on his mind with the Ryder Cup. He deserves to be on that team. So we’ll see.
“I know he’s got a lot of decisions to make and obviously a lot, I guess ending in the BMW. We’ll see. In all our eyes, he definitely deserves to be on the team.“

English was then asked whether it will be possible for Bradley to captain the team as well as play.
He responded: “Who knows? However it falls, he’s going to do a great job. He’s going to have his fire and energy. That’s what you kind of have the vice captains for. The same group of people have been running all the Ryder Cups from the American side. They can take a lot off his plate.
“I think a lot of stuff he does before the tournament, and if he does end up playing, he can put that aside and put it on somebody else’s shoulders and go give it his all for the USA.“
Keegan Bradley’s 2025 PGA Tour results
When Bradley was named as the Ryder Cup captain last season, it did seem like a strange choice, given his age.
However, the PGA of America are determined to go down a new route whereby they name Ryder Cup captains who are still active players on the PGA Tour.
Bradley has been very active this season, and indeed successful.
| Results | Bradley’s totals |
| Events played | 16 |
| Wins | 1 |
| Top-5s | 2 |
| Top-10s | 5 |
| Top-25s | 9 |
| Cuts missed | 1 |
Those numbers are really impressive from Bradley.
One more win would probably be enough for Bradley to qualify automatically for the Ryder Cup and if that happens, the only question that remains will be whether or not he also retains his role as captain.
