With golf very much still split down the middle thanks to the introduction of LIV Golf and no subsequent deal being done with the PGA Tour, it’s safe to say that some people have been turned off the sport.

Despite there being more content than ever for the average golf fan to absorb, the constant talk of money and arguments between the PGA and LIV higher ups has left a sour taste for some.

For the PGA Tour, losing top stars like Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau hasn’t helped. Further, with DeChambeau winning the US Open in such dramatic fashion and his YouTube channel being so popular, it does feel they’re missing a trick not having him on their tour.

Of course, DeChambeau’s popularity pales in comparison to that of Tiger Woods. For nearly three decades, Woods has been the major draw in golf and his return to form with son Charlie at the Hero Challenge was further proof of his pulling power.

However, while some feel that golf is limping along a bit, Woods’ former coach, Hank Haney, has suggested otherwise, albeit with a crucial caveat about his former partner.

Hank Haney says golf will never have another Tiger Woods

Well-respected golf coach Haney has become one of the most outspoken and knowledgeable people for fans to interact with on social media.

Haney is always good for a comment on golf’s big issues and replying to a fan who suggested pro golf was currently ‘dying’, Haney insisted it’s not the case.

How close is a deal between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour?

At the moment, things seem to have gone quiet when it comes to the PGA Tour and LIV coming to some sort of agreement for the good of the game.

Talk of a $1bn investment for 11% in the PGA Tour have gone quiet, while further claims that a deal for LIV to take 6% of the TOUR have also cooled.

At the moment, then, it feels like everything is at a bit of a dead end and nobody knows what will happen.

As it stands, LIV is very much hanging around as its own entity and the PGA Tour is continuing on with its own season, with The Sentry set to finish today.
