Patrick Cantlay is battling out on the final day of the Tour Championship but while he might be in the mix to win, he’s under pressure from fans.
Cantlay has stormed into contention at East Lake despite a season of disappointment which has seen his winless run on the PGA Tour continue.
However, he is in the mix this time and with nine holes played, Cantlay finds himself just a few back of Tommy Fleetwood.
With Fleetwood desperate for his first ever PGA Tour win, the pressure down the back nine could be huge for both players.
But while the battle is interesting to watch, Cantlay himself is doing himself no favours as he once again seems to be struggling to keep the pace of play.
And after Brooks Koepka was quizzed on slow play on the LIV Golf side of things, Cantlay is now being hammered by golf fans for his efforts.

Patrick Cantlay slammed by golf fans for slow play at the Tour Championship
Patrick Cantlay has always been known as one of the slower players on TOUR.
But with the season on the line at East Lake and the pressure building as he plays alongside Fleetwood, he seems to be going a step further than usual.
Naturally, this has left golf fans fuming, with social media awash with fans criticising him.
One fan demanded Cantlay be ‘Put on the clock’, while another went further, claiming Cantlay is among the worst to watch.
“Cantlay gotta be the worst person alive to watch play golf. Feels like I’m watching the happy feet movie when this guys on the screen“
Another angry fan made their own point to the PGA Tour.
The comments continued on theme as well, as one golf lover claimed Cantlay should start events on the clock.
“Cantlay is the worst. He should start every round on the clock.”
More concerning for Cantlay, it seems his behaviour has called his Ryder Cup spot into question.
“Patrick Cantlay is brutally slow and painful to watch. Do NOT put him on Ryder Cup team. Dont need slow ass players in a great event.”
“Cantlay should be blackballed from the Ryder Cup strictly for pace of play purposes this is ridiculous.”
Pace of play is a huge problem in golf
As we close out another stellar year of PGA Tour action, we are once again left reeling with topics like this dominating.
Instead of the focus being on the battle with Cantlay and Fleetwood, we are once again directed towards the actions of a golfer.
Cantlay has always been one of the slower players on TOUR. However his speed at East Lake in the final round has been somewhat ridiculous.
The PGA Tour just has to get a grip on this sort of thing and if that means taking shots off people in such big events like the Tour Championship, then so be it.
