Justin Thomas has got himself into contention to win on the PGA Tour once again after carding another fine round at the ZOZ Championship but one shot in particular has left the world of golf shocked.
Thomas followed up two excellent opening rounds to card a five under third round and put himself two shots off of leader Nicolas Echavarria heading into the final day.
The popular American has been woefully out of form for some time now and hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since winning the PGA Championship in 2022.

Thomas has managed to play some solid golf and going into Sunday, finds himself firmly in contention to end his drought.
However, just like any golfer, Thomas has needed a stroke of luck to keep within reach and he certainly got that in round three.
Playing low second shot under the trees from the light rough, Thomas hit his shot a touch thinner than he’d have liked and saw the ball head towards the water.
Remarkably, though, as Thomas yelled ‘skip, skip’, the ball cannoned into the water before doing just what Thomas wanted, and skipping back up off the water and rolling up towards the green.
From there, Thomas managed to save par, and over on social media, it’s safe to say that golf fans were pretty stunned by what they say.

As is always the case in golf when something like this happens, there’s a big reaction over on social media and that’s exactly what’s happened here.
Over on X, a number of golf fans commented on the shot from Thomas, with plenty having a little laugh about it as well.
Another golf fan, @anymantrading, suggested Thomas has automatically got himself into the Ryder Cup squad for 2025 by pulling off this one shot.
“Ryder cup wildcard spot guaranteed now.”
Another X user, @stephenjamiso13, claimed that when the golf gods are in your favour, it’s a good day.
“When the course is in your favour, it’s usually a good day.”
@sheilabreezy had the fun suggestion of making players do this at every tournament with water.
“Wowza!!! I want one of these at every tournament with water hazards!!!”
While @Sportsmartass1 made light of the situation and suggested that this happens for the average golfer plenty of times…just without the skip!
“Us bad golfers have done that multiple times. Don’t ask how many times it doesn’t skip.”
Thomas, then, it seems has managed to capture the attention of the golfing world again with one shot.
The question now, is if he can get over the line and make his luck count with a win!
