Royal Troon welcomes the 152nd Open Championship, the tenth time the venue in Scotland has hosted golf’s oldest tournament.
Being based in the UK, The Open finds itself subject to one major talking point – the weather.
While the American majors usually consist of four days of golf over sunny weather, The Open tends to differ in this regard. Brian Harman lifted the Claret Jug last year at Royal Liverpool, which was subject to some treacherous conditions, and this year, the weather has remained a talking point.
Englishman Justin Rose has played his practice round as he aims for a second major championship victory, and there’s one obstacle fans have been quick to point out on X.

Justin Rose video raises weather talking point at The Open
Rose posted a video from this practice round, and fans observed the windy conditions in South Ayrshire.
The video has nearly over 100,000 views and fans were leaving their thoughts about what they could see during Rose’s practice round.
These conditions are so familiar with The Open, but they may suit the European competitors in the field as they are more accustomed to this level of weather.
One fan wrote: “Good luck buddy! If it blows a bit, I like your chances.”
Rose hasn’t won a major championship since the US Open in 2013 and has since finished second in the Masters in 2015 and 2017.
Another fan added: “Atta boy Rosey! Best of luck this week!”
Rose has a big fanbase, especially for his performances at the Ryder Cup, where he has represented Team Europe six times.
An American fan joked with Rose on X, saying: “Livin’ the dream! Rooting for ya in Alaska where similar conditions exist 🙂 Have Fun!”
Another fan said: “Go Justin, one of the good guys in golf.”
Can Justin Rose win The Open?
Rose has a decent chance of winning The Open, and if he plays well from the off, the UK crowd will certainly make noise for him and cheer ‘Rosey’ on.
He is clearly a fan favorite and has experience at Royal Troon, so his time could be now.
In terms of form going into the tournament, he has missed the cut in three of his last four PGA Tour events, but The Open has seen ten winners in the last ten years, highlighting the unpredictability of the major.
