Ludvig Aberg won his second PGA Tour event as he came out on top in the Genesis Invitational to overhaul Maverick McNealy for the win but golf fans were still not happy with things in general.

Aberg produced a sensational final round of six under par what was enough for the victory despite McNealy producing the round of his life at eight under.

However, the moment belonged to Swedish sensation Aberg, who rolled in a cool eight footer on the final hole for birdie to take the $4m pay-check and confirm his status as one of golf’s biggest rising stars.

For Aberg, the key now will be consistency and going into the Masters in April – he finished second on debut last season – he’ll be one of the favourites to win.

But while Aberg’s success was the story in the main, the PGA Tour and in particular, CBS who were presenting the coverage, came under fire from golf fans.

Golf fans fuming with CBS as Ludvig Aberg wins the Genesis

With Aberg making a late run and at the time, being the only player who could realistically dislodge McNealy at the top of the leaderboard, CBS scored an own goal with their coverage.

In a bizarre turn of events up until 17 and 18, they kept showing American duo Patrick Rodgers and Denny McCarthy, who struggled to keep pace.

And over on social media, golf fans were fuming once more.

One fan directly called out the broadcaster, commenting:

“Hey @CBSSports would it kill you to show Ludvig Aberg hit a golf shot? He’s literally the only one with a chance.”

While another labelled the coverage as ‘disgusting’.

“Ludvig Aberg is tied for second and has the second best chance to win the tournament and CBS hasn’t shown him in a hour. Absolutely disgusting”

Another opted to call out CBS directly again.

“I’ve legit been watching @PGATOUR on @CBS for an hour and have yet to see Aberg swing once. He’s -9 and 2 behind the leader. Fix this at once”

With another watcher claiming he didn’t need to see Rory McIlroy so far back with Aberg chasing.

“Is it possible to see the guys in contention hit some shots @PGATOUR? I mean we can watch Rory who is 8 shots back hit every shot but haven’t seen Aberg hit a shot for 40 minutes.”

Continuing the theme on Rory, more fans brought up the decision to show McIlroy.

“Aberg down 3 has had no shots shown in a hour, Rory down 7 has had 10 shots. And people wonder why people hate PGA coverage @CBSSports @PGATOUR”

“Genesis and PGA with the worst coverage of all time today. Showing Rory -4 missing putts meanwhile haven’t seen Ludvig Aberg in an hour and a half”

While finally, another golf fan called the coverage ‘awful’ as they lamented the broadcasting again.

“This @PGATOUR production is absolutely awful. Haven’t watched a non major event in awhile and not sure I will after this. Constant commercials and basically just watching 5 guys golf! Haven’t seen Ludvig Aberg hit a shot in almost 3 holes and he is in 5th place!”

PGA Tour problems continue as fans speak out again

The PGA Tour has a bit of a problem at the moment and it’s one they need to address.

In almost every tournament on TV, fans are complaining about not seeing the right amount of coverage and with viewing figures dropping across the board, it’s quite bizarre they continue to make these mistakes.

Yes, the coverage from CBS is from an American broadcaster and naturally they follow the home grown players.

But Ludvig Aberg is on his way to being a world star and to not follow him as he was closing in on Maverick McNealy is just odd.

This is something they have to get on top of. And quickly.
