A few of the big criticisms levelled at the PGA Tour in recent years has been a lack of online content to draw fans in and the actual production of the televised events for the at-home viewer but the TOUR is looking to change at least one of those experiences.

While LIV Golf looks to take risks and has tried to innovate by offering its product free via YouTube and in the custom built LIV Golf app, the PGA Tour has been lamented for being a bit behind the times.

Watching a PGA Tour event can sometimes feel like you’re being shown just a handful of shots from 100s while the commentators speak.

And while we’ll never be able to see every shot we want, the TOUR could well do more to make the viewer at home feel more involved.

But, while the critics are there, it does seem the PGA Tour have made a move to try and improve things.

In an announcement featuring Tiger Woods, the TOUR have announced a new 165,000 square foot studio aimed at improving the content and production it delivers for events.

Tiger is used as the poster boy of the launch on what looks an impressive facility and will likely try and follow the likes of ESPN’s Inside NBA and CBS’s Champions League football coverage.

However, as with most things the PGA Tour tries to change, it seems that not all fans are happy.

Golf fans slam PGA Tour as they announce brand new studio

The PGA Tour will very much feel like it can never win with some fans when it comes to the steps it takes.

And this particular announcement is just another example of them alienating sections of the fanbase, with the overwhelming reactions being negative.

Indeed, that’s what one fan immediately reacted with, suggesting poor leadership and a waste of dollars.

While another fan suggested that using Tiger Woods to unveil it shows the PGA Tour are a bit desperate.

While @Triplea_19 suggested the new format will simply mean even more eyes off the actual golf.

“All this to show 5 minutes of coverage and 55 minutes of commercials”

Another fan, @AmericasBadBoy also pointed out Bryson DeChambeau, suggesting the LIV star is drawing more eyes than the whole PGA Tour.

“Meanwhile, Dechambeau make more money and gets more views on his cellphone hitting balls over his house.”

@BetsbyBerg also slammed the decision, and brought up the idea of seeing more commercials.

“All this to show less actual golf and more commercials or BS”

While even golf journalist Matt Vincenzi reacted and brought up the subject of seeing more live golf than adverts.

“Cool, cool. But does this mean less commercials on the broadcast and showing more live golf earlier in the day?”

Time will tell with this one. But for now, it feels like the PGA Tour just cannot do right from wrong and will simply have to wait and see how this one pans out for its fanbase.
