The Masters hasn’t even been finished 24 hours yet and we have some potential blockbuster news coming out regarding Rory McIlroy and the LIV tour.
McIlroy has been one of the most vocal critics of the LIV Tour ever since its inception.
The Northern Irishman has remained loyal to the PGA Tour for now and has spoken on more than one occasion on how he doesn’t like the concept of the LIV way of playing.
However, McIlroy’s stance has softened in recent months as well and he has continually voiced his thoughts that a worldwide tour combining all the best players would be the way forward for golf.
LIV Golf have picked up some of the biggest names in the game in recent times. More recently, Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton moved over for big money, in what many felt was a game-changing shift.
But now, according to reports from City AM in America, LIV could be about to pull off the biggest shock yet by landing four-time major winner, Rory McIlroy.

Rory McIlroy could be set to sign for LIV Golf in $850m deal
According to the report from City AM, McIlroy could well be on his way to LIV Golf after a huge deal was reached.
They claim that more than one source has told them that a deal has been agreed between LIV deal makers and McIlroy, with a contract worth around $850m and a 2% stake in the company being part of the agreed deal.
McIlroy moving over to LIV would send huge shockwaves through the entire sport and would rock the PGA Tour to its very core.
Likewise, the Ryder Cup in 2025 and beyond would also come under scrutiny, with McIlroy Europe’s leading player.
The report does caveat it’s own claims by saying their suggestions have not been verified yet, nor have LIV or McIlroy’s teams responded with comment.
McIlroy U-turn would shock sport
Should McIlroy make the move to LIV, it would mark one of the biggest about turns in sporting history.
The 34-year-old, if these reports are correct, will have a lot to think about and his reputation could be on the line if he does agree a deal.
Of course, some will argue that he might as well take the money while it’s on offer before the two tours eventually merge down the line anyway.
But even if that is the argument presented, it would still be a massive slap in the face for all those who have got behind McIlroy so much and defended his stance against LIV.
As of yet, the major golfing outlets in the world haven’t reported on this.
But like with most stories, there is no smoke without fire and golf fans will be waiting with baited breath to see what McIlroy’s next move is.
