The pressure is on one DP World Tour player to keep his card just four years after playing in the Ryder Cup.

The biggest events of 2025 are largely in the rearview mirror. With that, the focus is really on those trying to hold onto their cards on the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour.

Bernd Wiesberger is one of those facing an uncertain future. The Austrian began the week 121st in the Race to Dubai, with Data Golf showing that the top 120 are set to retain their cards.

It has certainly been a remarkable few years for the 40-year-old.

How Bernd Wiesberger performed on his Ryder Cup debut

Wiesberger had been a mainstay on the European circuit when he managed to automatically qualify for the 2021 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits.

The best year of his career came in 2019 when he managed to win three times, including at the Scottish Open.

Unfortunately, Wiesberger endured a miserable Ryder Cup debut. He was one of three Europeans who failed to contribute anything to the score, losing all three of his matches.

He was beaten 2&1 by Brooks Koepka in the singles.

Bernd Wiesberger became the first player to rejoin the DP World Tour after leaving for LIV Golf

Like a number of his teammates in Wisconsin, Wiesberger joined LIV Golf in 2022. He did not manage to register a top 10 during the 2023 season where he was a part of the Cleeks team. His best result was an 11th place finish in Jeddah.

His contract was not renewed, and Wiesberger became the first LIV Golf player to rejoin the DP World Tour ahead of the 2024 season. The Telegraph reported that LIV paid a £1.5 million fine to allow Wiesberger to return to his previous tour.

He managed to finish in the top 10 on three occasions last season.

Unfortunately, he has gone on to miss nine cuts this season. He has also not yet finished inside the top 10.

But there have been some positive signs more recently. Wiesberger finished tied for 16th at Open de Espana, and he ended up one shot ahead of Rory McIlroy – his playing partner on Sunday – at the DP World India Championship.

The result is set to lift him up to 113th in the Race to Dubai. So he still has a very good opportunity to ensure that he keeps his card heading into 2026.

But clearly, few would have ever imagined that Wiesberger would find himself in this position when he appeared in the Ryder Cup just four years ago.
