Jon Rahm will be a talisman for Team Europe at the 2025 Ryder Cup, but he is planning to do something completely different at Bethpage Black this week.

Fiery Spaniard Rahm heads into Bethpage as one of Europe’s best players, and his team’s hopes of winning the Ryder Cup will depend heavily on how he performs in New York this week.

Rahm is ready for the challenge of trying to win the Ryder Cup away from home.

The Europeans have only succeeded on American soil four times in the history of the competition, and this year’s edition at Bethpage may well be the toughest challenge they have faced yet.

Rahm is expecting plenty of noise from the Bethpage Black crowd, and the 2025 Ryder Cup could be one of the most boisterous yet as far as fan interaction is concerned.

The 30-year-old is well known for letting his emotions get the better of him out on the course at times, and that means that he may well be a target for the New York fans.

Jon Rahm plans to do something different at the Ryder Cup

Rahm will lead the charge for the Europeans at Bethpage this week.

He will bring plenty of fire and take the lead when it comes to giving the American fans a taste of their own medicine, so to speak.

However, it seems like the two-time major champion will be slightly more reserved on the golf course when it comes to his overly zealous self-deprecating attitude.

When speaking on Live from the Ryder Cup on The Golf Channel, Eamon Lynch revealed something that 2018 European captain Thomas Bjorn told him about Rahm.

He said: One of the points Thomas Bjorn made to me was that he and Darren Clarke both ran very hot, but they were abusive towards themselves. It was self abuse whenever they hit a bad shot, but he said they weren’t like that in the Ryder Cup because they wanted to be leaders, they didn’t want the other players to feel the anxiety or stress that they would routinely inflict on themselves.

I asked him specifically, do you think that applies to Jon Rahm who has been known to run hot and he said, it absolutely will. Jon Rahm will be less hard on himself this week because he doesn’t want to drag his partner down with him.

Jon Rahm’s Ryder Cup record

Rahm comes alive during Ryder Cup weeks.

Like so many Spaniards before him, he seems to find an extra gear when playing in the biennial competition.

Here is his record during his three appearances for Team Europe at the Ryder Cup:

ResultsRahm’s totals
Matches played12
Wins6
Losses3
Halves3
Total points7.5

If Rahm manages to leave Bethpage Black with a winning record this week, the Europeans will have a strong chance of winning the Ryder Cup.

The talent and desire is there and now it seems like Rahm is very much a team player as well. That can only be a good thing for Team Europe heading into the week.
