Dustin Johnson is very particular when it comes to the amount of golf balls he uses throughout a tournament week.

Johnson left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf back in 2022 and unfortunately for him, his golf has really suffered as a result.

The 40-year-old has just one top-10 finish in a major to his name since joining LIV – a tie for 10th at the US Open in 2023.

Johnson is said to be coasting on LIV now, with his hunger to win big championships having diminished.

That’s such a shame because the two-time major winner is such a hugely talented golfer.

Whilst his motivation to win may not be quite what it once was, he clearly takes pride in what he does.

Dustin Johnson’s caddie reveals how many golf balls he uses during tournaments

Johnson’s caddie – his brother Austin – has opened up on how DJ approaches tournament weeks.

The former Masters and US Open champion is clearly very superstitious when it comes to using different golf balls.

Many professional golfers on tour use numerous golf balls throughout tournament rounds.

But it seems that Johnson takes things to a whole new level entirely.

“Six dozen. In a tournament, if he makes a birdie or a bogey, he’ll switch the ball out, or like, back-to-back pars he’ll switch out. So we will go through a lot of balls during a tournament.”

72 golf balls during a tournament week…wow! Johnson’s caddie must be referring to how many balls Johnson uses throughout the entire week, including practice rounds.

They only play 54 holes during tournaments on LIV after all!

Dustin Johnson clearly doesn’t regret LIV move

Johnson has been incredibly open about his feelings on joining LIV from the PGA Tour.

The light schedule on the Saudi-backed tour suits him perfectly.

And he has openly admitted that he joined LIV for the money.

Johnson has a wonderful life now, and he’s clearly extremely happy with how things have panned out for him.

Some players like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm may well regret switching to LIV, but Johnson is one of the golfers who clearly made the correct decision at this stage of his career.
