Dustin Johnson rolled back the years to win the LIV Golf Las Vegas tournament ahead of Talor Gooch.

Former Masters champion Johnson put in a strong final round to scoop the prize and ensure big names like Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau ended up nowhere near the top spots.

Of course, Johnson is one of the most successful golfers in the history of the game really. The 39-year-old has 24 wins on the PGA Tour and 31 overall, including two major titles.

In terms of the players who made the jump to LIV as part of the first few seasons, Johnson was one of the biggest names to move on from the PGA.

His win in Vegas last night was his third individual win since joining LIV. However, while he might have started the 2024 season in brilliant fashion, Johnson has hardly been putting the graft in to ensure it happens.

Indeed, journalist Dan Rapaport has shared how Johnson apparently barely touched a club during the LIV off-season and was apparently surprised at finishing fifth in Mexico last week.

Dustin Johnson remains a top player

Johnson is still only 39 in fairness to him but there has been a period pass by where some assumed he might be past his very best.

However, his recent form in LIV shows he very much still has it in him. Don’t forget, the LIV field is now stacked with top talent so winning these events is no easy feat.

Johnson will be loving the fact he’s managed to pick up a win so early in 2024. The fact he’s not been practicing either, simply shows his class.

If he does put his mind to it and fancies getting some practice in, then the sky is the limit really. On this form alone, he’ll head into the Masters in April as a serious contender.

Johnson, then, could well cause a stir this year if he continues to play like this.
