Anthony Kim joined Dustin Johnson’s 4 Aces team on LIV Golf after Patrick Reed announced his decision to leave two weeks ago.

Bryson DeChambeau raved about Anthony Kim’s mental fortitude after the 40-year-old bounced back from a really challenging last decade or so off the course.

And now Dustin Johnson has spoken very highly of Anthony Kim during the LIV Golf event in Australia this week.

The former PGA Tour and Ryder Cup star has played some exceptional golf at LIV Adelaide this week, and is currently sitting in fourth place after firing two rounds of five-under-par 67.

After being relegated in 2025, Kim secured his return to LIV during the off-season after his fine performance at the LIV Golf Promotions event in Florida.

He is now starting to show signs that he could return to the levels he displayed back from 2008 to 2010.

Johnson has been one of the most successful players in the professional game over the past decade.

So he knows exactly what is required to reach the pinnacle of the sport.

The 41-year-old spoke about Kim’s recent resurgence out in Adelaide on Thursday.

And he responded when asked why he signed him up for his 4 Aces team.

Yeah, we had a spot open and had a nice week last week, Johnson explained.

I know he’s been working really hard on his game. I’ve seen the progression over the last couple years, so we’re excited to have him. I know he’s excited to be a part of the team.

I think he’s only going to keep getting better. Obviously had a really nice round today, too. It was a really nice signing this morning.

Johnson’s prediction that Kim will ‘keep getting better’ is quite the statement. Let’s hope he’s right because the 40-year-old getting back to his best would be great for the professional game on so many levels.

‘Friction’ between LIV golfers and Anthony Kim

Rick Shiels recently suggested that there weren’t many players on LIV who actually got on with Kim during the 2025 season.

“Obviously, having been so heavily involved with LIV last year, I would say there was a little bit of friction between players and Anthony Kim,” he said.

“I don’t think he was the most liked there. And he was a bit of a lone wolf. He wasn’t part of a team. I don’t think many people got on with him.

And I think some resented the fact that he got drafted into LIV and he was there as a bit of selling tickets or a news headline. I think he’ll be much more respected going into this year now when he tees it up in Riyadh.”

Why any golfers would have had a problem with Kim is anyone’s guess. LIV offered him the chance to play; it’s not like it was his decision is it?

And now, Kim is proving that he is more than deserving of his place on LIV Golf, with the exceptional golf that he’s produced recently.

Good luck to Anthony Kim. After all the hard work he has put in, and the personal demons he has overcome, he’d be a hugely popular winner on LIV, regardless of Shiels’ claim.
