Danny Willett has recalled being more impressed by one LIV golfer than both Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.

Most people would agree that McIlroy and Scheffler are the two best golfers of this generation, but there are plenty more world-class players.

Willett, who won The Masters in 2016, was absolutely amazed by one of his playing partners at Augusta National two years ago.

The Englishman remains convinced that his opening two rounds were the best display of golf he has ever witnessed.

Danny Willett picks Brooks Koepka over Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler

Danny Willett played with Gary Woodland and Brooks Koepka in the first two rounds of the 2023 Masters.

While Willett could only manage three-over-par 75s on both days, Koepka’s play was out of this world.

The five-time major champion was 12 under after two rounds at Augusta National, and Willett will never forget his performance.

“I played with Brooks a few years ago at Augusta,” Willett replied when asked to name the best golfer he has ever played with.

“F— me. It was a year where he had a sniff. When was that? Two years ago, three years ago.

“I played with him Thursday and Friday. I would have bet my house. I’ve known Brooks for a long time. He played the Challenge Tour and played the European Tour, didn’t he? It was unreal.

“When he’s on, he’s hard to beat. I’ve not played with Scottie for a long time. Rory is amazing when he’s on.

“On Thursday and Friday, he just made it look easy. He’s a big lad. He’s a proper flusher. It was pretty.”

Where did Brooks Koepka finish at the 2023 Masters?

After carding a 65 on Thursday and a 67 on Friday, Koepka led the 2023 Masters by two strokes.

His performance level dropped in the third round, as he was one over, but he still had a two-shot lead going into Sunday.

Unfortunately, Koepka blew his best opportunity to win the green jacket by shooting 75 on Sunday at Augusta National.

Jon Rahm was six shots better than him on the final day and ultimately won the tournament by four strokes.

Koepka has finished in the top 10 at The Masters three times in his career, including when Tiger Woods won in 2019.
