Collin Morikawa has experienced an extremely difficult 2025 season on the PGA Tour, but at least he ended the year with a round of eight-under par 63.
Morikawa is still without a win since his victory at the Baycurrent Classic (known as the Zozo Championship at the time) way back in October 2023.
The two-time major champion has really struggled on the PGA Tour with numerous departments of his game over the past year or so.
Morikawa said he was a big fan of the Baycurrent Classic course before the week actually began.
And he ended the week at Yokohama Country Club in a tie for 14th position at 10-under par.
Morikawa endured a really difficult Ryder Cup, taking just half a point from his three matches during the week at Bethpage Black.
So a top-15 finish in Japan would have been a welcome way to end his season. However, he clearly wanted more.

Morikawa’s final round at Yokohama Country Club consisted of seven birdies, one eagle and a solitary bogey.
The 28-year-old struggled with his game all week in Japan, but a round of 63 would have been a very nice way to finish for him.
After his final round, he was asked what he plans to work on during the off-season.

“Yeah. I mean, two things, I think we talked about it in the presser at the beginning of the week. One’s the putting, to really just kind of stick with one putter and just feel confident. Today I felt great. I felt like if I put myself on the greens I felt like I could make any putt. I need to get that feeling a little more often during the season.
“And two’s just kind of getting the body right to where I know I can hit my cuts. I know I played well today, but I think we’re good enough to where we can in a way fake it around golf courses. But I don’t want to do that, I want to have full control. When I watch some of these top guys and how they’re playing right now, it’s motivating for me to put in the work. It’s going to be a fun couple months heading into next year.“

Morikawa responded when asked to sum up the way he was feeling after shooting a final round 63 in Japan.
He said: “Yeah, mixed emotions. I mean, obviously I’m very happy with 8-under. I think the way my game’s been kind of trending, I probably would have signed for a 4-under, but got off to a nice roll and putted very nicely. But look, this is my last tournament for the season and got a lot of work to do.
“It’s not really the way I wanted the year to end. I can look at the positives, but for right now I know what I need to fix and kind of tune up if I want to be the player that I know I can be.“
A round of eight-under par is obviously nothing to be sniffed at, and Morikawa’s 63 should have given him a real confidence boost heading into the off-season.
As he said, though, he has plenty of work still to do, if he is to rediscover his very best form.
Morikawa’s T-14 at the Baycurrent Classic may not have been what he wanted, but it represents a fine week’s work on the whole.
Now it’s up to him to put in the hard yards and prove what he’s really made of.
