Collin Morikawa shot a very impressive round of 66 in round two of the RBC Heritage but like most professional golfers, he’s not completely happy.
Morikawa is looking to get back to winning ways and much like current leader Justin Thomas, he’ll feel it’s been way too long since his last PGA Tour win in 2023.
Thankfully for Morikawa, he looks to be on his way to rediscovering some sort of top form and a five under-par 66 puts him well in contention for the weekend.
However, while any amateur golfer would take that round and most PGA Tour players would too, Morikawa believes there’s still room for improvement.

Collin Morikawa says where needs to improve after round two of the RBC Heritage
Morikawa was speaking to the media after his round of 66 saw him be five shy of the lead going into the weekend at Harbour Town Links.
However, while that score was impressive, Morikawa admitted that he still very much needs to tighten up when it comes to his iron play.
“Back and forth. I think Augusta I never was able to keep that momentum. It was nice to have that today and say, okay, look, I can put together a round when I’m making my up-and-downs, making some putts for par,” Morikawa admitted.
“The irons need to tidy up a little bit. It all comes down, especially on a course like this, where you just have to be really good with your distance control. It’s just been a little bit off. The difference between having inside 10 feet to 20, 25 feet for birdie is huge, especially on a course like this.”
“Yeah, it’s felt fine off the tee. I’ve put myself in the fairway a decent amount. I just need to tidy up the irons and clean it up a little bit.”
Collin Morikawa’s 2025 stats as he looks for first win since 2023
It’s a bizarre run we find ourselves in really when all of Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth are struggling to win.
Seven majors between them but not a single win on the PGA Tour since 2023 – Morikawa’s at the ZOZO – makes for grim reading for some of the world’s biggest names.
However, Morikawa does look to be edging back towards a win.
He finished second to Russell Henley at the Arnold Palmer, while he also picked up runner-up spot in the season opener at The Sentry.
Two ties for 17th at both Pebble Beach and the Genesis, as well as a T10 at the Players and a T14 at The Masters very much show that he’s trending in the right direction.
The win feels like it’s coming soon but as ever, Morikawa has plenty of competition.
