Cameron Young is a man in form on the PGA Tour in recent times and he’s taken that form into the Bahamas with a fine two rounds at the Hero World Challenge.

Young was one of the stars for the US Ryder Cup team after a superb second part of the 2025 season saw him finally win a PGA Tour event and continue to impress.

The New Yorker is now looking to take the next step in 2026 and win a first major.

However, for now, his focus is on the Hero World Challenge and at ten under par, he shares the lead with four others going into the weekend.

And speaking about his round and year in general, Young admitted it was effectively a season of two halves.

Cameron Young assesses his 2025 PGA Tour season

With Young among a number of players in contention, he’ll very much feel he has a big chance to add to his solitary PGA Tour win so far.

Of course, having finished in the top ten eight times in 2025, he could easily have added to that record prior to going to the Bahamas this week.

Indeed, according to Young himself, he feels his 2025 season was a case of two completely different periods.

“Yeah it was a story of two years. But the second half look a lot more like what I’d like my career in general to look like,” Young admitted.

“So it’s been good to fight out of that place I was in the earlier part of the year and then see some success later in the year.”

Asked further on if he feels he can take momentum into next season by doing well at the Hero, Young admitted he’s very much using the event as practice.

“Yeah, it certainly can. I’m kind of not using the week as practice, but I’m using the week to try to build on some things that we’ve been doing and less so looking at the results just because I haven’t played any competition in the last couple months,” Young added.

“So it’s more just an opportunity to keep building on what we were doing mentally. I don’t think the
result is necessarily going to dictate the outcome, I think it’s going to be more kind of how we go through our process and how we attack the golf course.”

Cameron Young can challenge for the majors in 2026

While we look at the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy as players who will always be somewhere in contention in the majors, beyond that, it’s harder to predict.

However, Cam Young is definitely someone who can challenge that top two and more to win.

Young’s length, his improved putting and the confidence he clearly has in his game right now are all welcome sights both for him and his supporters.

Furthermore, Young’s emergence as a key man for Team USA at Bethpage will give him the confidence that he is a main man on this TOUR right now.

With all those elements, Young will feel he can definitely win a major if the cards fall his way.
