Cameron Davis has outlined a really weird situation that emerged after he claimed his second PGA Tour title at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
The Australian was handed the title in Detroit after Akshay Bhatia missed a short putt on the 72nd hole to force a play-off.
Despite expressing his frustration at his two-under-par final round, the 29-year-old did just enough to stave off the likes of Aaron Rai and Min Woo Lee.
But, speaking after his round, Davis did admit that watching Bhatia miss a short putt to force a play-off was hard to take.
Cameron Davis’ weird feeling after Rocket Mortgage Classic win

Speaking during his post-round press conference, Davis claimed it was “weird” to be handed victory at Bhatia’s expense.
“It’s a very tough situation for (Bhatia). And for someone to be the benefactor of that is a bit of a weird situation to be in,” Davis said. “At the same time, I just feel so much relief because it has been a long time since I’ve come out on top.”
The Aussie added: “I’m going to make sure I start enjoying it and really appreciating it. (This week was) a nice combination of timing and golf course for me, because I’m just starting to feel like I was working myself into a place where I could start getting some sparks and magic back into the golf, and part of that, is shaping shots.
“So, it worked well for me, and the visuals out here make it even easier for that.”
Massive FedEx Cup boost for Cameron Davis
Davis’ win in Detroit has given his FedEx Cup aspirations a massive boost.
Before the Rocket Mortgage Classic, the Aussie was seven spots outside the cut line ahead of the St. Jude Championship in August.
Now, Davies is 40th and stands an excellent chance of making it through to the first stage of the play-offs.
With The John Deere Classic up next before The Open gets underway at Royal Troon, Davis will now fancy his chances of cementing his place in the FedEx Cup standings ahead of a busy end to the season.
