Cam Smith was one of the biggest names to leave the PGA Tour in order to join LIV Golf back in 2022.
Smith had just won The Open Championship at St. Andrews and he seemingly had the golfing world at his feet.
However, he joined LIV Golf and the rest is history. The Australian made his first cut at a major on his last seven attempts last month at the PGA Championship.

Cam Smith says whether he would leave LIV Golf if the prize money drops
With the future of LIV Golf uncertain right now, all of their biggest stars genuinely do not know where they will be playing next year.
Even if LIV Golf manages to survive, big changes will undoubtedly be made to the way they operate.
When speaking to The Mirror, Smith was asked whether he would consider remaining with LIV Golf if the purses were lowered from the start of next season onwards.

And the Australian provided an emphatic response.
“This has been an awesome four or five years for us golfers, for everyone around the world,“ he said.
“It’s changed a lot of things, but I think realistically, it’s time for [prize money] to come back to the way it was.
“It was obviously not working, and it’s pretty far-fetched, realistically. So we’ll see what happens. I’m sure there are going to be a lot of changes, particularly with prize money next year.“
Proof will be in the pudding for Cam Smith and co
Those comments from Smith are incredibly noble. However, the proof will be in the pudding if the purses are indeed lowered next season.

Smith and his fellow stars on LIV Golf have earned extortionate amounts of money over the past few years.
However, it will obviously be no surprise at all to see the prize money drastically drop after PIF pull their funding from the league.
There is also a chance that LIV will cease to exist completely if they are unable to attract alternative investors.
And if that happens, it will be fascinating to see what the biggest stars on LIV Golf do next.
