Bryson DeChambeau has been in superb form on the LIV Golf league this season.
DeChambeau has performed admirably in the major championships as well, his missed cut at The US Open notwithstanding.
Back in 2020, DeChambeau changed the face of golf forever, after bulking up and attacking golf courses with a brand of explosive power that had never been seen in professional golf before.
DeChambeau’s form this season makes him a shoo-in for the U.S. Ryder Cup team, but there are still numerous things he needs to improve upon.
The 31-year-old contended deep into the back nine at The Masters and the PGA Championship.
However, he fell away in both tournaments right at the very end.
Bryson DeChambeau warned he has major problem ahead of The Open
DeChambeau is the best driver of the golf ball in the world.
He’s by far the longest and he actually has even more power in reserve if required.

The American has added a real level of accuracy to his driving this season as well, and he is ranked inside the top 10 for fairways hit on LIV in 2025.
And he is ranked first in scrambling this season on LIV as well.
However, he does have an Achilles heel, and it has reared its ugly head on numerous occasions in the majors this season.
DeChambeau struggles with controlling his irons at times, due to the incredible speed that he swings the golf club.
And Johnson Wagner has suggested that the sheer height that he hits his iron shots will cause him big problems at Royal Portrush next week.
He said: “You look at his one top 10 and that came back in 2022 at St. Andrews. That is about the only Open venue I can see him playing well at, just because of the wide fairways.
“He hits is too high, he sprays it too much. I do not see him being a factor. He is my guy I see as a top player to miss the cut just because of the fact he can’t physically… his longest iron is a five iron, now I know it’s like a three iron loft but he hits it to the moon.
“When you get those into the wind conditions and you need to sting a bullet iron just to get it in play, he does not have that shot.“
Bryson DeChambeau’s record at The Open
DeChambeau has an incredibly underwhelming record at The Open Championship.
His best finish came at St Andrews in 2022, when he ended up in a tie for 8th.
Here is how his record looks during seven appearances at The Open.
| Year | Venue | DeChambeau’s finish |
| 2024 | Royal Troon | CUT |
| 2023 | Royal Liverpool (Hoylake) | T-60 |
| 2022 | St Andrews | T-8 |
| 2021 | Royal St Georges | T-33 |
| 2019 | Royal Portrush | CUT |
| 2018 | Carnoustie | T-51 |
| 2017 | Royal Birkdale | CUT |
DeChambeau will be desperate to improve upon his Open record next week at Royal Portrush.
If the wind blows though, he may well struggle, as Johnson Wagner suggested.
