Bryson DeChambeau has suggested that a potentially surprising name from the PGA Tour reached out to him following his US Open win, though he would not reveal which player it was.
Few would have imagined a few years ago that Bryson DeChambeau would end up becoming one of the most popular golfers on the planet, but it certainly appears that there are not many who are as loved by the galleries as the 30-year-old.
DeChambeau has been in supreme form in the majors this year, winning the US Open at Pinehurst after finishing sixth at The Masters and then coming second at the PGA Championship.
His performance in North Carolina is surely a big win for LIV Golf, who are continuing to look for ways to bring eyes to their product as opposed to the PGA Tour.
Bryson DeChambeau reveals PGA Tour player sent message to congratulate him on US Open victory
Golf’s civil war continues to rumble on, with Mackenzie Hughes speaking this week about how he hated Jon Rahm’s decision to defect to LIV ahead of this season.
But it seems that many were very happy to see DeChambeau triumph at Pinehurst, with the American telling his press conference at LIV Golf Nashville about the amount of messages he has had in the last few days after winning his second major title.

“There is a few and I’ll keep that confidential just because, out of respect for them. There was someone on the other side of the coin, not on LIV, that texted me, I was very appreciative of. It’s not who you think it would be, but there was a few that reached out and I was really appreciative of,” he said.
The surprise needle-mover for LIV in 2024
From the outside, it really appeared that 2024 was going to be a massive year for LIV, but not necessarily because of DeChambeau.
Instead, the player that many expected to move the needle was Jon Rahm, with the Spaniard’s signing a real coup for the breakaway tour. He was the defending Masters champion, while he had also been Europe’s talisman at the Ryder Cup in Rome.
Rahm’s Legion XIII did win the team event on debut, but he has not won individually, and he has not impressed at the majors this year.
Of course, he is too good a player to be out of contention for long. But those expecting PIF to have real leverage in talks due to LIV having Rahm have probably been a little mistaken.
Instead, it seems to be DeChambeau that the PGA Tour miss most right now – as one or two players potentially admitted after his US Open victory.
