Bryson DeChambeau has shared which shots he would have to start hitting to become particularly stressed on the driving range before a round.

From the outside, it appears that few go into quite the same depth with their games than Bryson DeChambeau, with the American always seen as a very unique player in the modern game.

DeChambeau is known for using a set of irons which are all the same length, while his putter and driver do not appear to turn up in many other bags across the tours.

Of course, every golfer knows how a good range session before a round can provide some much-needed confidence, while few things scramble the brain before approaching the first tee quite like spraying all the practice balls across a field at least five times wider than any fairway out on the course.

And every golfer will have the shots that they fear, whether that be a top, a chunk, or even the dreaded shank.

It turns out that DeChambeau also has shots that he does not want to see before teeing off, with the two-time major champion telling Golf.com that he is not actually worried about the poor strikes which largely go dead straight.

“No, what gets me stressed is the improper curvature. If I’m thinning or chunking it, I can get away with it. If it starts curving too much one way, that’s when I get really stressed. That’s where you’ll see me hit golf balls for quite a while,” he said.

Hard to question anything US Open champion is doing

DeChambeau appears to be particularly keen to be in complete control; absolutely certain on where his golf ball is going as soon as it leaves the club face.

So you can understand why a ball which curves too much bothers him so much.

DeChambeau has mastered his game over the last three or four years, finishing in the top six at all three major championships so far this season. He was even happy to swap his driver head on the range just before the start of the final round of the US Open at Pinehurst.

He has found a formula which clearly works for him – even down to which shots he is content to see on the driving range.
