Bryson DeChambeau has shared what his manager told him as he celebrated winning his first US Open back in 2020, with the LIV Golf star now a two-time major champion.
It felt like a long time coming when Bryson DeChambeau clinched his second major title at Pinehurst, with the 30-year-old edging Rory McIlroy in one of the all-time great major championship battles.
DeChambeau has been knocking on the door in the majors all year, having finished tied for sixth at The Masters and then coming second at the PGA Championship at Valhalla.
In truth, DeChambeau has been on another level almost since the moment he joined LIV Golf, but there was a four-year gap between his two major titles.
Bryson DeChambeau shares what his manager told him after 2020 US Open win
Perhaps few would have taken greater satisfaction from his victory in North Carolina last week than DeChambeau’s manager.
Speaking on The Scoop – in an interview clearly conducted before the US Open – DeChambeau revealed how his manager was quick to get his feet back on the ground after he triumphed at Winged Foot four years ago.
“I took it back to one of the Trump properties, we just had a nice dinner there, I was staying there. I flew the next night, we just had a great big dinner celebration party with a bunch of friends, family, people alike,” he said.

“I remember taking the US Open trophy on the back veranda, just me and Connor, my manager, and we just sat there, looked up, I saw the moon, it was a full moon, and I just remember saying, ‘well, I guess that’s it’. He looked over and hit me and goes, ‘no, it’s not, there’s a lot more majors to win’. And it was just like a full reset, gosh, this is what it’s like to win a major, but he kept me straight, he was like, ‘no, Bryson, this is just the beginning’.
“It’s been three years since then and sure enough, I haven’t won another major, but I feel like I’m just at the point in time where I can do that again with the equipment that I have, and the mindset that I have, and the body that I have, I really feel prepared to do a lot more good out on the golf course now.”
DeChambeau won’t need reminder after victory this year
When DeChambeau’s career started, he was almost seen as a novelty due to the equipment he was using, but he took some time to show that he could become an elite player.
In fact, he did not even register a top 10 at a major until 2020, so it is probably no surprise that he wanted to savour the victory in New York.
Now DeChambeau 2.0 has won a major title too, you would imagine that he will almost immediately switch his focus to when number three is going to come his way.
