Xander Schauffele added his name to the list of golf major winners recently and Bryson DeChambeau has suggested he’s not surprised.
Schauffele holed out on the 18th at Valhalla a few weeks ago to win his first major by capturing the PGA Championship.
It had been a long time coming for the American, who had endured near misses in all the other majors before finally getting over the line at Valhalla.
For Schauffele, the trick will now be to kick on and produce on a more regular basis and get his name into the group of multiple time major winners.
Of course, one man who also knows about winning a major is Bryson DeChambeau. Indeed, the LIV superstar was the man to push Schauffele all the way at the PGA.
And speaking fondly of his fellow American, DeChambeau has admitted he’s known about Schauffele’s talent for years.

Bryson DeChambeau gives his honest verdict on Xander Schauffele
Speaking on Grant Horvat’s YouTube channel, DeChambeau admitted that he’d played with Schauffele and always knew he’d amount to a top player.
“I played a little bit of junior golf with him. And I played against him in college quite a bit. This was a guy who was always like, ‘this guy is going to be good’.
“He’s very consistent. It’s one of those, he’s like a robot,” DeChambeau said.

Seeing Xander Schauffele finally get over the line at Valhalla was a feel good moment for the world of golf.
He’d come so close on so many other occasions that it was brilliant to see him hold his nerve, play so well, and see of a big threat from both DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland.
Now, Schauffele needs to seize on the momentum gained and go and win again.
Given he’s come so close before, there is no reason to believe that Schauffele won’t find himself in a position to convert again in the near future.
The US Open is coming up. Don’t be surprised, then, to see Schauffele right in the mix again.
