Bryson DeChambeau has issued his immediate reaction to the news that LIV Golf will receive some world ranking points for the 2026 season.
The OWGR announced on Tuesday that they had decided to award LIV Golf points for their events from this year. It comes on the eve of the new season kicking off in Riyadh.

It appears to be a big boost for LIV Golf. A number of their players have tumbled down the world rankings previously, with the large majority of their appearances in a season not recognised by the OWGR.
However, there are some caveats that have come with the announcement.
Bryson DeChambeau reacts as LIV receives world ranking points
It will only be the top 10 at each event who receive world ranking points. The player who wins in Saudi Arabia this week will receive a similar number of points to the person who finishes third at the WM Phoenix Open.
Meanwhile, 10th place at Riyadh is as valuable as 29th place at TPC Scottsdale.
So perhaps it is no surprise that Bryson DeChambeau stopped short of lauding the decision when asked about the news by The Mirror US.

“I haven’t been able to digest it fully. I’ve seen what they’re saying is the breakdown of points for the top 10. I have no idea what to think about it now, I’m just digesting it currently,” he said.
“You saw me over there going, ‘okay, alright’, so trying to understand what it all means and how it all shakes out.
“I don’t know [if it’s fair]. I had no idea how they were going to handle it. I didn’t know if we were going to get points. So at least we’re getting points, right?”
LIV Golf far from pleased with the OWGR’s decision
Despite the news clearly being a step in the right direction, LIV have been critical of the decision.
In a statement posted on social media, LIV suggested that it is unfair that someone who finishes 11th in the standings receives the same number of points as the player in 57th.
That is obviously true. However, if LIV were overly bothered about the OWGR, perhaps they should have addressed the issue of having a team event running alongside an individual tournament.
It looks to be a fair move. But LIV clearly feel very differently.
