With Brooks Koepka’s departure from LIV Golf confirmed on Tuesday, there is now an interesting wait to see where he will be playing during the 2026 season.

Brooks Koepka leaving LIV Golf had been mooted for a few weeks. His contract with the league was set to run until the end of next year. But he has now been replaced as captain of Smash GC by Talor Gooch.

Of course, many will be pushing for the PGA Tour to welcome Koepka back. The PGA Tour released a vague statement following the 35-year-old’s departure.

But it seems that the five-time major champion may be suspended until 2027. So those at Ponte Vedra will either have to bend the rules for Koepka, or dig their heels in.

Koepka’s future has not yet been confirmed. But according to a report from The Telegraph, there is an expectation that he will return to his old stomping ground for next year.

“Koepka can play on the DP World Tour and sources indicate that the European circuit will be his primary home in the next campaign, as he seeks to rebuild. He is eligible to appear in all four majors in 2026,” they write.

Koepka really made his name on the European Tour. His first win at the highest level came in 2014 at the Turkish Airlines Open. He had previously won four times on the Challenge Tour.

It would definitely be a boost for the DP World Tour if Koepka played regularly in their events next year. And tour stalwart Pablo Larrazabal has thrown his support behind the idea of the American coming back.

Once again, golf finds itself in an unprecedented position with Koepka becoming the first star to leave LIV Golf of his own volition.

So it should come as no surprise if there are plenty of twists to come before Koepka hits his first shot in a tournament in 2026.
