Wesley Bryan made an impressive return to competitive golf this past week, with the American finishing tied for 51st in the International Series event in the Philippines.
It was a wise move from the Asian Tour to invite Wesley Bryan and his brother George to take part in the latest International Series tournament. The pair are two of the biggest names in the YouTube golf space, while the younger of the duo is a PGA Tour winner.
Wesley Bryan was suspended by the PGA Tour earlier this year after taking part in LIV Golf’s Duels event. Some think Bryan is destined to join LIV Golf for 2026.
What Chase Koepka thought of Wesley Bryan’s short game after playing with him in the International Series event
In the meantime, the 35-year-old has definitely caught the eye of Viktor Hovland‘s former coach Joe Mayo. Mayo reacted to Bryan’s display on the Asian Tour by appealing for someone to put him in contact with the 2017 RBC Heritage winner.
He noted on Instagram that he had heard about his outstanding wedge game and wanted to learn more.

That prompted Chase Koepka to simply reply: ‘Played with him Saturday, it is as good as it looks‘.
It proved to be a successful week for Koepka as he finished tied for 12th.
What Joe Mayo believes Wesley Bryan does which makes him outstanding around the greens
Mayo and Bryan got the chance to speak shortly after. And in a boost for some amateur golfers, Mayo then posted a video from Bryan showing him chipping in.
The coach is passionate about debunking some of the myths within the sport, particularly when it comes to the short game. And he provided a summary of what appears to make Bryan so good around the greens.
He wrote: “Note the length of the backstroke compared to the short length of the shot. I think this is tapping into the things that truly set the greats apart in chipping and pitching. The way the golfer tilts themselves and moves their COM up and away from the ground is very much related to these “soft” and “decelerating” chips from these world class wedge players.”
It is a fascinating analysis, with Mayo seemingly suggesting that Bryan goes against a lot of the stereotypes when it comes to what good chippers do.
And perhaps there is now reason to think that further content will be coming from the pair, with Mayo clearly impressed by what he sees from Bryan.
