If you’ve won five majors in golf, then you’re going to have a hard time picking just one as the favourite but Brooks Koepka has done his best to explain just why each victory was so sweet for him.

Koepka has very much gone under the radar in the modern era as one of the greats and with five majors, he is one ahead of Rory McIlroy and one behind Phil Mickelson.

Remarkably, Koepka is still only 34 and there is ample time for him to win again, with the Masters coming up in a few weeks to give him his first shot in 2025 at one of the big ones.

Naturally, picking just one of five major wins as your best is tough going.

And when asked which one was his favourite, Koepka admitted it’s hard to differentiate.

Brooks Koepka explains what each of his five majors wins mean to him

Brooks Koepka was giving an in-depth interview with his caddy Ricky Elliott on the Smash GC YouTube channel and got onto the subject of his major wins.

However, when tasked with picking a favourite, Koepka admitted that each one had a different meaning for him.

“They all mean something different to me. The first one was ‘I can do it’. Shinnecock was just to back up that it wasn’t a one time thing. I think that meant a lot as well,” Koepka said.

“Then you roll that over to PGA. I think that was completely different because that was against my idols. Tiger and Adam Scott. Going toe to toe with them, that meant a lot to me. The little kid inside of me was jumping up and down and was beyond excited.”

“Bethpage was I felt like that took a lot more guts. I know we had a seven shot lead but it kind of made it more difficult. But also the conditions got horrible on the back nine. I love Harold to death but him shooting back an 82 did not help in that situation. I made one bogey and DJ made a birdie and all of a sudden seven goes to five. Then another bogey and it goes to four. Then you had the New York crowd [saying I was] choking. It was kind of funny but it never really felt out of grasp or I wasn’t fully losing it but I was just like man I’m making this way closer than it needs to be.

“Oak Hill was cool because that was the first time that we had actually gotten together [with his caddy] in 2013. So that was the first year you had ever caddied for me. First event. So they all mean something different.

“For me that one was just like an okay I can do this again after everything, all the injuries and all this stuff and justified that I am back. I fell back but to do that for yourself is a whole other thing.”

Brooks Koepka’s record in all majors

If you’re winning five majors before the age of 40, you’re doing plenty right in your career.

Brooks Koepka is one of a few players to have multiple major wins and still be playing and if he can win The Open and the Masters, he’ll join the exclusive list of grand slam winners as well.

In his career, Koepka has always done well in the big events and his record speaks for itself.

With just five missed cuts in a total of 42 major appearances and 18 top tens in there as well, it’s little wonder Brooks Koepka is a feared player across both big tours.

Going into Augusta, he will very much be one of the players being tipped to win.
