Brooks Koepka will make his return to the PGA Tour on Thursday at Torrey Pines in the Farmers Insurance Open.

Koepka has not played a PGA Tour event since June 2022, when he decided to jump ship to LIV Golf.

Interestingly, the 35-year-old has a terrible record at the Farmers Insurance Open, with a T-41 and four missed cuts to his name in four appearances.

However, he did finish in a tie for fourth in the US Open at Torrey Pines in 2021.

How do you think Brooks Koepka will get on at Torrey Pines this week?

Koepka is excited to get back into action on the PGA Tour, if not a little nervous about the whole situation.

He will be desperate just to get out on the golf course now and compete.

That’s where Koepka feels most comfortable.

All eyes are on the former LIV golfer in La Jolla this week.

The media scrutiny on Koepka has been intense during the build-up to the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

Golf fans are even fascinated to see what the American has in his golf bag ahead of his PGA Tour return.

Golf equipment specialist Jonathan Wall took to his X account on Tuesday to provide an update on Koepka’s bag ahead of the Farmers Insurance Open.

He said: “Brooks Koepka’s Tour return at Torrey is a great opportunity to remind you he’s still playing a TaylorMade ‘17 M2 (3-wood) and Nike Vapor Fly Pro (3-iron).

Fun fact about the Vapor Fly Pro: It has two thumbprint-sized divots in the Fujikura Pro shaft from years of rubbing against the bag.

Not sure I’ve ever seen anything like it while covering gear on tour. Whatever works.

Considering just how meticulous professional golfers are with their equipment, the state of the shaft on Koepka’s 3-iron is quite extraordinary.

The thumb-sized dent looks like it could genuinely give way at any moment.

However, Koepka is obviously more than comfortable with the club, and he said as much during his press conference on Tuesday.

Brooks Koepka comments on equipment ahead of the Farmers Insurance Open

The five-time major champion was asked whether he has tested any new equipment ahead of his PGA Tour return.

No. I haven’t really tested anything,” Koepka admitted.

I’m not a tinkerer. If something works, something works and I don’t really switch up.

I like everything that I’ve got in the bag. I feel like I have a good understanding of the control, where the misses are.

Yeah, I haven’t really tinkered with anything man. I like my bag setup right now.

The key takeaway from those comments is when Koepka said, ‘I feel like I have a good understanding of the control, where the misses are’.

He obviously has complete trust in his ball flight with his 3-iron in particular, and understands the shot-shape that his bad shots will produce.

It will be fascinating to watch Brooks Koepka back in action on the PGA Tour at the Farmers Insurance Open this week.
