Brooks Koepka is still one of the biggest names in the professional game, in spite of his poor form in 2025.
Koepka is currently playing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland, and is nicely placed on eight-under par ahead of the weekend.
The 35-year-old’s form has fallen off a cliff over the past 12 months.
Koepka watching the Ryder Cup at home would have been an unusual experience for him, having been part of the previous four teams.
Now the American will be looking to rediscover his best form over the course of the next 18 months or so to ensure that he doesn’t miss out at Adare Manor in 2027.
Koepka refused to blame LIV Golf for missing out on the Ryder Cup team, and rightly so.
He just needs to find more consistency in 2026 and as is the case every year, the five-time major winner will be looking to make marginal gains with his equipment during the off-season.
Brooks Koepka admits he does something ‘crazy’ when testing golf balls
The best players in the world are very specific about the equipment they use, and rightly so.
There is a different shaft, clubhead, loft, lie and angle to fit the specific needs of every single golfer on the planet.

However, another vital aspect to tour pros performing to their very best is the golf ball they choose to use.
Koepka responded when asked about his decision-making process behind using the Srixon Z-star golf ball.
He said: “I think as anybody who is going to test balls, go test what’s right for you or what you want to play. The first thing we do is go putt with it, I know that sounds crazy, but you’ll get an idea putting. If you have five or six different golf balls, you’ve got to have the right feel and immediately you can kind of eliminate one.
“Then we start working our way out, we go 20 yards, 40 yards and then you just go through the wedges and I think all you’re looking for is flight and spin.
“It’s so important for us as pros being able to control your distances from there. If you can do that, especially in the wind, I don’t care who you are, you’re going to have lower scores.“
What next for Brooks Koepka?
Koepka is clearly hungry for more success.
He would not have played four times on the DP World Tour since the 2025 LIV Golf season ended if he were not.
But what does he need to work on, if he is to rediscover his best form anytime soon?
His stats from the 2025 season tell us that one particular area of his game is in need of attention.
| Stats | Koepka’s 2025 rank on LIV |
| Driving distance | 19th |
| Driving accuracy | 32nd |
| Greens in regulation | T-47th |
| Scrambling | T-21st |
| Putting | T-5th |
Judging by those numbers, Koepka’s iron play was clearly well off the boil on LIV Golf in 2025.
He will obviously have to improve upon that massively in 2026 and beyond, if he is to contend in major championships again.
