There is no question that Brooks Koepka can take a number of positives from his first week back on the PGA Tour after making the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Brooks Koepka goes into the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open tied for 61st. The five-time major champion posted his second round of 73 this week at Torrey Pines on Saturday.

It was a frustrating day for the 35-year-old. He made four bogeys and one double bogey.

It will be fascinating to see how motivated Koepka is on Sunday with little to really play for. There certainly seems to be one part of Torrey Pines that the American will be very pleased to see the back of.

Koepka lost more than five strokes to the field on the greens in the third round alone, according to Data Golf. Unsurprisingly, no one performed worse in that particular area.

And speaking after his third round, the former LIV Golf star admitted that he has found it impossible to build any sort of momentum on the greens.

“Playing well. Putting, I’ve never felt comfortable on poa. You just miss a few and you’ve got zero confidence,” he said.

“I don’t know, today I felt every three, four-footer was slightly downhill and I felt like it kind of went a little bit of both ways. I tried to firm them all and take the break out to still be aggressive like I normally am, but I wasn’t even hitting the hole. I don’t know, I’m just going to chalk it up to just a bad day, but I’m happy with everything else.”

How Brooks Koepka performed on the greens on LIV Golf

It remains to be seen just how much of Koepka’s struggles can be put down to the poa annua. Clearly, it has been a fairly miserable week for the former world number one on the greens.

However, putting has not exactly been a strength of Koepka’s for a little while now. He lost strokes putting in each of the last two years on LIV, according to Data Golf.

So it may be something to keep an eye on in the weeks ahead. It is unlikely that Koepka will struggle quite as much as he has done this week, but perhaps he cannot afford to completely ignore some of the issues he has had at Torrey Pines.
