Brian Rolapp has wasted little time getting stuck into his role with the PGA Tour, with the new CEO making sure to speak with a host of players about potential changes they would like to see.

It felt like a coup for the PGA Tour to convince Brian Rolapp to join as the new CEO. He has already announced the formation of the Future Competition Committee, with Tiger Woods set to act as the chairman.

Rolapp has also been praised for speaking to so many players already. Rory McIlroy was one of those who suggested that he was extremely impressed with Rolapp after speaking with him for 90 minutes.

With the PGA Tour in a strong position right now, it seems that Rolapp has the luxury of deciding which path he takes the tour down in the years to come. There appears to be no need at all to rush into reaching an agreement with LIV Golf.

What Brian Rolapp is looking to do on the PGA Tour from 2027

And it seems Rolapp has no concerns about upsetting the apple cart, particularly when it comes to the PGA Tour schedule.

He will not have had too much of a say in how 2026 looked, with one more signature event added to the schedule. But speaking on The Smylie Show, Smylie Kaufman suggested that there is an expectation that Rolapp will look to really make his mark from 2027 onwards.

“I like the way he’s approaching it. Let’s get all the data, and then, let’s let these guys just go and be golfers. Let’s not let them try to run the tour. Let the adults in the room be able to take this thing to the next level, and I think that’s what he’s doing now,” he said.

“Next year, you’re going to start to see progress and announcements of changes that are going to happen in the future years, hopefully starting in 2027 where the schedule I think could get just completely blown up, which would be so exciting for the fans, the players. There’s interesting things that I’ve heard. That would be one of the first things that you could say people are talking about and that things could really get changed up a little bit.”

The big change to the 2026 PGA Tour calendar

It is fair to say that the 2026 schedule sparked plenty of debate. As mentioned, the Miami Championship has been added to the calendar, with the PGA Tour returning to Doral.

The timing of the event has raised some eyebrows. Between The Masters and the PGA Championship, there are three signature events.

For those who do not qualify for the signature events, they will only be able to play in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and the Myrtle Beach Classic. So it could be an incredibly challenging part of the season for a number of players who will be looking over their shoulder and working out how they can keep their cards.

It does not appear to be the ideal setup. But, much like the Tour Championship this year, it seems that fans should perhaps not get used to how the 2026 schedule looks.
