After Jordan Spieth found himself in the mix during the final round of the WM Phoenix Open in February, many would have hoped that the three-time major champion was on his way back towards the top of the game after a number of difficult years.

There were plenty of questions asked about Jordan Spieth ahead of the 2025 season. It is nearly eight years since his most recent major championship win. Meanwhile, he has not won on the PGA Tour in more than three years now.

Much of that has been due to a wrist injury. Spieth had surgery in 2024 in an attempt to move on from the problem once and for all. But there were doubts over whether he would be able to fully recover.

The good news is that Spieth has already played 13 events this year. It would appear that he is doing well in his recovery.

However, the results have been mixed to say the least. He has finished fourth twice, and he has missed two cuts. He is also yet to really contend for that first win since 2022.

But it seems that there are plenty of positive signs. Speaking on 5 Clubs, Brandt Snedeker suggested that he is optimistic for Spieth’s chances ahead of The Memorial Tournament this week.

“I think Jordan’s playing some great golf right now, I really do. I’ve watched him play a lot the last month and a half, and seeing the progress he’s made since his wrist surgery and seeing a better version of the old Jordan Spieth in a sense, he’s hitting the ball a long way, he’s hitting it as straight and as solid as I’ve ever seen him hit it,” he said.

“I think for him, it’s just about a matter of seeing some putts go in. These greens, I played yesterday here, I can’t think of a better set of greens for him to find his feel than these. These are Augusta National-esque when you talk about speed and the way you have to read them. And we all know how Jordan putts there. And I think this week would be a great step for him.

“Feeling some comfort, it’s not like he’s that far off. As any player will tell you, it’s one of those weeks where if a few putts go in, all of a sudden the lid comes off and everything kind of turns around. I can see Jordan having one of those weeks this week.”

Jordan Spieth’s 2025 PGA Tour stats

What is encouraging is that all aspects of Spieth’s game appear to not be too far away right now. He is inside the top 75 in all strokes gained categories on the PGA Tour in 2025.

As Snedeker notes ahead of The Memorial, it may just take one brilliant week in one aspect of Spieth’s game for the 31-year-old to get into contention again.

When you consider that Spieth was facing so many questions about his future heading into 2025, he is surely going to be delighted with how quickly he seems to have made progress.
