Angel Yin is well placed to secure what would be the biggest win of her career to date, with the American tied for the lead heading into the final round of the CME Group Tour Championship.
Angel Yin has been in some impressive form heading into the CME Group Tour Championship. While she missed the cut at The ANNIKA last week, she had registered four top 10s in her previous eight events before struggling at Pelican Golf Club.
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old is still looking for her first win of the year. Of course, victory at Tiburon Golf Club would be a perfect stage to end that wait for a win, with $4 million up for grabs for the winner this week.
Yin took the lead after the second round in Naples. And she will go into Sunday’s final round with a share of top spot with Jeeno Thitikul.
How Angel Yin surprised Brandel Chamblee during the third round at the CME Group Tour Championship
Yin produced a stunning putting performance on Saturday, seemingly having no problem draining anything from a lengthy distance. And speaking on Golf Channel, Brandel Chamblee admitted that he was not expecting to see Yin still in top spot at the end of the day.

“What an entertaining day it was. I said today that we were going to learn a lot about Angel Yin, I certainly did. I certainly didn’t think she would have the outright lead, she had a couple of stressful moments out there today. She seemed undeterred by them,” he said.
“You seemed to be putting your analyst hat on this morning, Anna, I could tell, I know you well enough, you were trying to push it on us. You were saying as much that she’s unflappable. I was like, well, she appears to be unflappable, but something about $4 million tends to make unflappable people flappable.
“But time and time again today, she did things that were minor miracles. Hitting it in the stuff, coming out, making par putts, chipping in; it was a very entertaining day.”
Where Charley Hull and Nelly Korda find themselves ahead of the final round
It is going to be a fascinating final day of the season. Yin clearly has a point to prove after doubts were expressed over whether she would hold onto a two-shot lead during the third round. Some will be expecting Thitikul’s enormous potential to shine through.
There is three shots between the co-leaders and Ruoning Yin, while Charley Hull is four back of the lead. Meanwhile, a certain Nelly Korda is inside the top 10 on nine under par.
With most players, you would suggest that a six-shot deficit is simply too much to claw back, particularly given how many players are in front of her. But those at the top of the leaderboard will certainly be bracing themselves for the world number one to make a charge at some stage on Sunday.
