Brandel Chamblee has been around the game of golf for some time now and he’s seen the very best and worst of a certain Tiger Woods over those years.
Woods, a 15-time major winner and joint first in terms of overall wins, is out injured once again due to a potentially season ending achilles issue.
With Woods enjoying the TGL and also looking to play The Masters, his injury is a big loss for both himself and the game of golf.
Of course, Woods is no stranger to making a comeback. And with that thought in mind, Brandel Chamblee has spoken of the next return of Tiger.

Brandel Chamblee predicts Tiger Woods surprise when he returns from injury
Chamblee was speaking on the latest episode of Dan on Golf and covered a wide range of topics before getting onto Tiger Woods.
When asked specifically if everyone needs to stop building up hope for Woods to come back and win, Chamblee has said he believes there is still something there for Tiger.
“No, I don’t think so. Bernhard Langer came back last year from an Achilles tear earlier in the year and went on to win. Bernard hasn’t had the injuries or the surgeries and all of the issues that Tiger Woods has had. But Tiger Woods. How many times has he blown our minds doing things nobody thought he could do,” Chamblee said.
“I’m not going to say the most amazing thing he ever did was winning the 2019 Masters, but it is on that list. Coming back from a bad back and the chipping yips was one of the most amazing things he has ever done.
“If you go back and watched what transpired in 2014 and 2015, no events in 2016, him coming back at 2017 at the Hero late in that year and you saw him chipping into the grain uphill and chipping beautifully, you thought alright game on for 2018 and 2019. I don’t know how he did it. I think that would be one of the more compelling phycological achievements in the history of sport, to find out how he did it.
“Anybody who has had the chipping yips. I can’t think of a single professional who has overcome the chipping yips. Or even poor chipping. Look at Viktor Hovland. I wouldn’t say he has the chipping yips but it’s very poor chipping. He still is very poor. And he has devoted all his energy to it for five, six, seven or eight years. It’s just so difficult.
“Now imagine taking it to the next step where he can’t green a chip, where he is fatting them and blading them and shanking them. That in my era has sent a handful of players off the tour, that I can think of. Going back Brett Ogle, hell of a player. Gone. I have never seen anybody come back from it.”
What Brandel Chamblee saw watching Tiger Woods in the TGL
One of the biggest shames for Woods is that he was very much getting into the TGL and at times, showing signs of good golf.
Indeed, according to Chamblee, that brief spell on the TGL has shown exactly why Tiger could still surprise everyone.
“I was watching him swing at TGL this year. His ball speed was 176 and I thought that was faster than it was the last time I saw him. His ball speed and his golf swing looked amazing. He was pushing off that right foot. So I have learned at some point you will say never say never for Tiger Woods.

“But he could come back and all the stars line up again, he would have to have all the plates spinning, it would have to be warm, he’d have to have perfect tee times, at the right side of the draw, he’d have to be feeling good and it be a flat course. But maybe. It’s still the most compelling thing in golf.”
Woods will desperate to come back and have one more fist of things before considering joining the Champions Tour next year.
