With so much attention on Scottie Scheffler right now, it is easy to forget that Jordan Spieth goes into 2026 also one win away from completing the Career Grand Slam.

Of course, Jordan Spieth has only needed to win the PGA Championship since 2017. Few would have imagined following his victory at Royal Birkdale earlier that year that he would head into 2026 with no further major wins.

Who do you think will win the Sony Open in Hawaii this week?

In fact, Spieth has not won on the PGA Tour at all since 2022.

Brandel Chamblee assesses what Jordan Spieth did during the 2025 PGA Tour season

The Texan had been dealing with a wrist injury for much of the last few years. Eventually, he decided to undergo surgery towards the end of 2024.

With that, there was hope that he would look a lot more like his old self upon his return. However, Spieth only showed glimpses of his previous quality.

His best two finishes in 2025 saw him end up fourth. He managed to register just one top-10 in a signature event. And his best result in a major was tied for 14th at The Masters.

Nevertheless, Brandel Chamblee has taken to social media to insist that there is plenty for Spieth to be optimistic about heading into 2026.

Spieth’s strokes gained numbers in 2025 are certainly encouraging

It is interesting to hear Chamblee think so highly of Spieth’s season. He appears to be nowhere near the level of the player who looked set to rewrite every record going after 2015.

But perhaps it is fair to say that he has put some strong foundations in place. Spieth was inside the top 70 in every strokes gained category in 2025.

That is impressive when you consider that he was 138th for approach play and 101st for putting in 2024.

Spieth did not play in the Fall and will be relying on sponsor invites to this year’s signature events. But perhaps he will be able to step up and remind everyone why he remains one of the game’s biggest stars over the coming months.
