There is plenty of intrigue surrounding Bryson DeChambeau heading into the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage, with the two-time US Open champion making his return to the event in a few weeks.

Bryson DeChambeau is really Keegan Bradley‘s wildcard for the Ryder Cup. The 31-year-old managed to qualify for the US team automatically despite only earning points in a handful of events.

DeChambeau’s performance at Whistling Straits in 2021 seemed to be something of a turning point in his career. And he has now become one of the most popular players on the planet. So it would be a huge boost if Bradley is able to get the best out of the LIV Golf star in New York.

There are a couple of issues. DeChambeau has a mixed record in the Ryder Cup so far. And given how unique his game is, it is not going to be easy to find the right partner for the Crushers captain, particularly in the foursomes sessions.

How many sessions Bryson DeChambeau will play at the Ryder Cup

Brandel Chamblee believes that DeChambeau could provide one or two headaches for his captain at Bethpage.

However, speaking on The Favorite Chamblee, Chamblee suggested that DeChambeau is a player who has the potential to play all five sessions in a few weeks.

“I think the hardest problem of having the LIV players is – and it’s not because they’re LIV – we can have that discussion, and I certainly have it all the time, but I think Bryson DeChambeau will be hard to pair with. I believe Cameron Young plays a similar golf ball, if not the exact the golf ball. But just the style of golf Bryson plays has proved difficult to pair with in the Ryder Cup. His record clearly shows that,” he said.

“Oh my gosh, if they can find a partner with him, why wouldn’t he play all five? But early matches will set the tone. If they find somebody that he pairs nicely with and he gets out there. But I’m curious to see how they set up the golf course.

“If there’s no rough – and previous Ryder Cups when the US is at home, they set the golf courses with typically little rough – I’m not so sure with the exception of Bryson DeChambeau, that that’s a huge advantage, because US players have gotten straighter over the years. It used to be Phil and Tiger hit it all over the place, and then there would be Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka and Bubba Watson, they were all over the place. So they would set it up with no rough and that would give them the advantage on top of home course, home country advantage, which is worth two points. I don’t know that they have that advantage, except with Bryson DeChambeau.

“Look, you’re looking at a guy who’s clearly in the top five of the world and fit and ready to go, so if they find him a partner, I wouldn’t be surprised if he went five matches. But my guess is he’ll go three or four.”

Bryson DeChambeau actually has a point to prove at Whistling Straits

Chamblee is not the only person who believes that the Wyndham Championship winner may be the best option for Bradley to pair with DeChambeau. Johnson Wagner also believes Young and DeChambeau make the most sense.

While the LIV star is one of the best players on the planet, he does have something of a point to prove. He lost both foursomes matches in 2018. DeChambeau was the only American – including playing captain Tiger Woods – at the 2019 Presidents Cup to play in only two sessions at Royal Melbourne.

The 2021 Ryder Cup was much more successful for DeChambeau as he went unbeaten in three matches.

But he is now at the sort of level where it would arguably be a big disappointment if he only featured in three sessions at Bethpage.
