The PGA Tour could become even better by making one big change, according to Billy Horschel.
Horschel served on the PGA Tour Player Advisory Council back in 2022 and was selected to run for the Co-Chairmen post.
The 38-year-old is a hugely popular figure amongst his peers due to the fact that he puts a lot of work into making the tour better.
However, he doesn’t provide anyone lip service.
Horschel would happily take LIV players back on the PGA Tour, because he thinks it would be good for the game of golf as a whole.
That said, his loyalties definitely lie with the PGA Tour.
And he has come up with a novel idea of how to make the best tour in the world even more appealing to everyone who loves golf.
Billy Horschel urges the PGA Tour to make a big change
Horschel is well known for voicing his opinions on numerous talking points in the game of golf.

And the American shared an idea regarding how the PGA Tour could become even better than it already is, during an appearance on The 5 Clubs podcast.
Horschel said: “It’s been awesome to be home. I was telling someone recently, just being home has allowed me to recharge and not have my main focus be on golf but on my wife and kids.
“I’ve spent time with my wife, done things with my kids. We went fishing with my little guy, I had an absolute blast with my dad, my brother and my uncle. That’s stuff we haven’t been able to do because of golf.
“I truly believe that I would love to see the game have an off-season where we get away from the PGA Tour just for a mental reset, body reset. Everybody in the game of golf, the players, the fans, the sponsors, everybody, I think it would be really good for the game of golf if we could have two or three months where there is no golf. We could all just enjoy our lives and really enjoy what we have been able to achieve. Just enjoy life, because as much as I love the game of golf and I focus so much, sometimes you’ve got to live in the present and remember that there’s bigger things than golf.“
Why Billy Horschel’s PGA Tour idea makes perfect sense
While the PGA Tour season officially finishes at the end of August, the golfing calendar is actually all year round.
There are PGA Tour events that run all the way through to December, while the DP World Tour runs until November.
However, the DP World Tour starts up once again almost immediately for the South African and Australian swings.
The only real break in professional golf is from late-December until early January, when the season kicks off once again in Hawaii.
While the players are independent contractors and have the flexibility to determine their own schedules, there are definitely times when they are forced into playing in order to keep up in the race for the FedEx Cup, and to maintain their position inside the top 50 in the world.
Every other sport has a break for a prolonged period of time in order to allow the players to rest and recover, and the same can be said for the fans and the journalists who cover their specific sports.
Having a longer break on the PGA Tour, like Horschel suggested, would add some real excitement. It’s like Christmas Day isn’t it? If it came round once a week, everyone would get tired of it in the end.
