With just three months until the first major of the year gets underway in Augusta for The Masters, excitement is already building.

Current holder Jon Rahm has moved over to LIV Golf and there’ll be plenty of eyes on him as the tournament gets underway in April.

Beyond that, there’ll be a host of names who pundits and fans select as their main picks.

Of course, Rory McIlroy will be a name on everyone’s lips. The Northern Irishman needs the green jacket to complete the career gland slam and it would be fitting for him to finally do it and in the process, dethrone a LIV player.

And making his predictions for 2024 for the BBC, golf pundit Iain Carter has tipped McIlroy to finally get the monkey off his back in April.

Pundit thinks Rory McIlroy will win the 2024 Masters at Augusta

Writing about a range of topics to look out for in the world of golf in 2024, the respected Carter got down to his predictions for the majors.

And in his selections, Carter believes McIlroy will come out on top to finally win The Masters.

Within his calls, Carter also picked out Matt Fitzpatrick as his man to go and get a second US Open.

Wyndham Clark is the current holder of that title, having produced a memorable display to take the title in 2023.

McIlroy will be itching to win

It’s the same old story every year really. Everyone gets hyped up for Rory finally winning The Masters and he ultimately falls short.

This year, the narrative will be the same. And in fairness, it’s only right.

McIlroy himself will be desperate to win it but he will know himself that he needs to earn the right.

We all know he can win any tournament on any given weekend. The key for Rory is to find consistency in his opening two rounds and then go into gear like he normally does on day three and four.

Few golfers complete the Grand Slam in golf but Rory is good enough and has had enough time to do so.

Surely, then, this year, or not long after, we finally see him get a hold of that green jacket.
